“I daena plan tae get caught. I am going tae go in, take Lady Mairead by the arm and bring her out tae the road where she will be safe. Then, I will return and kill Agnie and this trouble-person.”
I asked, “Where am I durin’ all this excitement?”
He grinned. “Ye are watching in awe.”
I said, “Och, ye hae a fine idea of yerself, Lochinvar. But if Lady Mairead is safe, and Agnie is dead, it will be well-deserved.”
Lochinvar brushed off his pants. “Good, then let us get ready tae go.”
CHAPTER 13 - MAGNUS
We walked at a fast clip tae the museum.
Fraoch, Lochie and I stood shoulder to shoulder lookin’ up. Fraoch said, “The building looks different.”
“Aye, twas big and stone, now tis tall and brick, do we hae the right address?”
Fraoch asked the nearest woman, “The Museum is here?”
She said, as she passed us going up tae the door, “Yes, on one of the upper floors.”
I said, “This is a weird time twist.”
“Aye, and we studied the schematics of the other.”
Fraoch waited at the side of the building, while Lochinvar and I strode up tae the main double doors at the front where a police officer began pattin’ Lochie down.
I asked the doorman, “Which way tae the sculpture gardens?”
He looked at me oddly. “There are no sculpture gardens, this is the Heckscher Building—”
“The Museum is here? I thought the buildin’ would be more grand.”
“Yes, the museum is up—”
“Has it always been here?” I looked up and down the block.
The doorman narrowed his eyes. “Yes, and it is new, this is theopening. There’s a stair, and an elevator, the gallery is on the twelfth floor.”
I said, “Och nae, wait…” I turned and jogged down the steps, returnin’ tae the curb with Lochinvar joggin’ down behind me.
I told Fraoch, “This is a different buildin’ than afore. There inna a sculpture garden.”
Lochinvar asked, “What does this mean?”
Fraoch said, “It means our intel is useless. Now what is our plan? We are blind, time shifted, our spyin’ did naething.”
I glanced around as people were beginnin’ tae arrive for the party. “I will wait here on the steps waitin’ tae intercede... perhaps I can catch Lady Mairead afore she goes in. Fraoch will guard the back as we planned. Lochie, now ye will go inside on yer own. In case the situation gets away from us.”
Lochie looked up at the building. “How do ye even get up tae that great a height? There is naething easy about this.”
I asked, “Ye ever taken an elevator?”
“Nae.”
Fraoch said, “Then ye take the stairs, but daena worry, Og Maggy will stop Lady Mairead afore she goes in.” Fraoch passed me a gun before he left to head to the rear of the building.
Lochinvar entered the museum while I waited beside the steps, hidden in the shadows, until finally, Lady Mairead stepped from a car tae the curb.
