Yes, m’lord.

He climaxed and drew me closer, his arms tight around in a full body hug as he grew soft between my legs and slid free with his mouth on my shoulder. He sighed. His palms pressed to my stomach. “I daena ken if I will ever get enough of it, I am so sorry I hae missed it, mo reul-iuil, I canna believe I…” His voice broke and he held on, quietly for a long time. Vulnerable, trying to regain his composure.

Finally, there was a knock on the door. I rose and answered, it was Lizbeth passing him some clothes through the door.

“Thank you, you think of everything.”

She said, “I hae few charms, that is the best of them.”

I watched him dress, slowly, in his normal, eighteenth century attire, wrapping the tartan around a loose shirt.

I said, while fixing my hair, “Sex is usually the best way to get a baby to come, so maybe it worked…”

He grinned as he pulled on his socks and boots.

I said, “I know Hayley is desperate to talk to you about Fraoch, we should go down.”

“Aye.”

CHAPTER 64 - KAITLYN

We gathered in the Great Hall. It was mid afternoon, so no one else was there. The nightly meal wouldn’t be served for a couple of hours.

Everyone sat at a long table.

I said, “It’s weird not to have Quentin here, I’m used to him being in charge of all things modern security.”

James said, “I’m doing my best, but he’s definitely got the mind set. I think I’m not security minded enough, not modern enough, not soldier enough.”

Magnus said, “Colonel Quentin is irreplaceable, nae one of us could take his part.”

Hayley said, “Imagine how bored he must be in North Carolina.”

James said, “He’s probably working in the secret service for the president by now.”

Magnus clutched his heart. “He would do that? Och, twould make me so jealous.”

We all laughed.

Magnus leaned forward in his chair, holding my hand under the table, his thumb stroking the back of my hand.

Hayley said, “Enough of the small talk — what’s going on with Fraoch?”

“He appears tae be sidin’ with Agnie and Ian—”

“I do not believe it, there is no way he would side against you.”

Magnus’s head hung down, finally he said, “Aye, I agree, they must be holdin’ something over him, Lady Mairead believes they are threatenin’ his nieces and nephews, or he might hae the golden band around his throat, I daena ken. But tae an outside observer he looks verra much as if he is on their side—”

“He’s not though, he would never.”

“Aye, I ken, he is a prisoner, and he is bein’ coerced. I believe he has a plan, he must — he might be gaining intel, lookin’ for weaknesses, but he haena communicated with me on it. I am in the dark on it.”

“Great,” she huffed, “he’s still alive though, how do we rescue him?”

“Tis nae so easy, Madame Hayley. He has… he has raised arms against me. In the war he has led an army against m’own. We are locked in a tragedy. I am waitin’ for him tae lay down his weapon and turn, tae kill them, but he haena.”

“…yet. He will. Unless he is unable to do it. You know him, Magnus, if he isn’t doing it it’s because they have something over him, he needs more time…”
