“Fuck you worried for? I can still pull.”

I laughed. His ass was snappy as fuck, just like Mecca. Everybody in my life was on some annoyed shit today. “I’m just checking on ya stupid ass.”

He smirked. “It’s straight, I don’t think I got my lick back good enough off that lil nigga.”

A deep chuckle escaped my lips. “Nah, you had the lil nigga leaking before he left. Shit, he almost pissed his pants.”

He nodded his head.

“I went to meet with Earline this morning.”

He cut his eyes in my direction. “Am I supposed to know who that is with that bad south ass name?”

“My mama.”

“Aw damn, she should’ve gotten that changed when she was younger. But how did that go?” he glanced my way.

“It didn’t. I couldn’t sit there and let that lady gimme all these excuses about her own turmoil when she didn’t take into account mine.”

He nodded.

“Right here.” I pointed as we pulled a few houses down from the house I was talking about.

“I mean I get what you saying and yeen wrong at all but you only get one of those.”

“Right and she left me. I grew up and went through all those milestones without her, what do I need her now for?”

“You right, but think about that shit bro. Don’t shun a conversation you’ll regret not having when it isn’t possible anymore.”

I nodded, taking in what he was saying before I looked around and spotted old girl, or I think I did. “Ain’t that shorty right there?” I asked pointing.

“Look like it.” Quari squinted his eyes.

“How are we finna get the bitch in the car?” I asked. We were in the middle of a two way in broad daylight.

“Like this.” He was loading his gun. He sped up a little so he could catch her before she went in her gate. Before I knew it, he was in the opposite driving lane and we’d pulled up beside her. He let the window down and aimed the gun in her direction, “Aye bitch, get in the car before I pop ya fucking skull.”

She stood frozen, looking at him.

“Don’t try to run, I got a good ass aim. Your brain will be on the fucking ground before yo’ right foot gets the signal to try.”

Now for sure I thought this bitch was gonna drop all her shit and run, but she didn’t. She threw her hands up in surrender and started toward the car making us think she was about to get in. Too bad she thought she was smart and tried to run behind the car. Quari was quicker than her though. He reversed the car and I heard a loud thud before he parked the car. We both got out of the car and her dumb ass was lying on the ground unconscious.

“How did you know you’d knock her unconscious?” I asked as he popped the trunk and threw her ass in like a lightweight.

“I didn’t. Watch my back while I subdue her. You know this is a dangerous ass neighborhood.”

“What type of hood nigga uses the word subdue?” I looked around while he did what he had to do.

“Nigga one who has a fiancé in college. I’m tryna broaden my horizon, you should too.” Before I knew it he was slamming the trunk shut and walking toward the front of the car. Once we were back in the car, this nigga drove off without a care in the world.

Chapter 19

MAZZIER

Ifelt like I hadn’t closed my eyes at all because I was up all damn night with Gauze. Once the movers moved everything in and finished up, I made sure Mama Dolly was good and made my way to the sofa on the first floor. Gayze’s bed wasn’t up, so she was sleeping on the sofa or a blowup mattress until I put it together. Right when. I felt myself falling asleep, I heard her footsteps walking into the living room. When I looked up she was smiling at me. It wasn’t a normal smile either, it was one of those demon time smiles. Long story short, I haven’t gotten a wink of fucking sleep and neither had she, but now she was up rushing around the room to get ready for sleep.

“You fuck me into oblivion then leave me on this sagging ass air mattress?” I asked not even bothering to lift my head. I was tired as fuck.
