“Answer the damn FaceTime request so we can make sure you look less like a doctor and more like a ho.”
Pulling the phone away from my face I laughed hard as hell. The funny thing is she actually meant it. Once I answered and propped her up on the holder in my closet, I proceeded to look through my stuff. It took me a minute but I’d finally picked out something and I had Autumn’s approval. Once I got myself together and I was dressed she and I hung up and it was time for me to figure out what I’d do with my hair. Usually I left it in a ponytail, but I went for a different approach today. I decided to let it flow. It was freshly blown out anyways because I had to get an end clipping earlier this week. Instead of packing my pores with makeup, I just applied a little lips gloss and walked toward my living room. I wonder what the hell this man had in store for me.
The sound of my phone ringing pulled me from my thoughts and made me focus on it. I pulled it from my back pocket and he was calling. Quickly, I answered the phone. “Hello?”
“Yo, I hope yeen late to ya surgeries like this, Dr. Carson.” The slight accent and deepness in his voice brought a smile to my face.
“I did say seven-ish.” I laughed walking toward my front door. When I opened it, I walked back to the sofa to getmy leather jacket. I was definitely gonna need it after letting Autumn talk me into wearing this lace material bodysuit.
“Where I’m from, that means earlier than seven.” Hearing his voice behind me made me turn around and look at him.
I laughed. “Well here it means later, shit much later.” I giggled before I grabbed my purse. When I looked up at him he had the sexiest smirk on his face. This man was handsome as fuck, I mean literally. Once I turned out the lights and we exited my space, we stepped on the elevator and I could feel his eyes on me.
“Damn, you beautiful, Doc.”
I smiled. “Thank you.”
“No need.”
Once we stepped off of the elevator, he grabbed my hand which I gladly allowed him to take and he led me out of the lobby and into the parking garage. He pressed the button on his fob and a matte black Rolls Royce Cullinan. I had only seen this exact car in pictures and or on TV. If you asked me, it wasn’t worth the money people paid for it. It looked too commercial.
“You must like cars.” He asked.
“You could say that.” I smiled over at him as we walked over and he opened the passenger side door for me. I was more so impressed with the inside of it. “I’m more of an admirer and I always say I’m gonna get another luxury car, but I end up talking myself out of it.”
“Why?” he asked when he got in on the other side of the car.
“Because I’m a creature of habit, I can’t see myself switching cars up like that. So I’m gonna ride the wheels off my wagon.”
He laughed before pushing the button to start the car. “I mean I feel you, but some days you feel what you wanna drive when you have options. Shit the only reason I drive this is because I don’t drive it often and you gotta turn it over instead of only letting it sit.”
I nodded. “Understandable. So, where are we going?”
He laughed. “I ain’t telling you that. Ask another question.”
I smirked. “Fine, what do you do for a living?”
He cut his eyes into my direction before he nodded his head. “I used to sell drugs, but I don’t like being shot at. So now I just invest in low- and no-income communities. Awh and I own a few restaurants back home.”
I nodded my head. It was refreshing for a man to be so honest, hell now I really wanted to know what the hell was wrong with him. He seemed close to perfect.
“That scare you?” He asked as he pulled into a boat docking yard.
“No, should it?” I turned and looked at him.
“Nah, just thought I’d put that out there.” He shrugged his shoulder and licked his lips.
“Nothing you tell me will scare me at this point in my life.”
He nodded. “We’ll see about that, Doc.” He opened his door and came over to help me out of the car. Once he had my hand and he was leading me toward the dimly lit harbor that led to one boat on the dock.
“You sure you aren’t trying to get me out here and kill me?” I asked looking at him.
“Nah, I’m tryna get to know ya with minimal distractions. Can I do that or do you need my?—”
“Yes, you can.”
Once we boarded what I now realized was a yacht , he led me to the front of it. He had it beautifully set up for us to have dinner under the stars. Now this was romantic as fuck and I could tell he was trying to knock me off my feet. I couldn’t help but be impressed by the amount of effort he put into this. No one had ever put this much thought into anything like this for me before.
