He didn’t say anything at first, which let me know he was smiling. “Go on.”
Changing the way I was lying on him, I found my head on his chest. “She believes that you’re my other half. She warned me to protect us and not to limit love. I almost told her I was already out here doing that, had my ass cuffed in the back of a cruiser for this love.”
“So, you do love me.”
It was then when I realized the last statement that came out of my mouth. “Don?—”
“Tell me you love me, so I can fall asleep, shorty.”
I made a million faces in the silence of the dark, before I heard myself speaking. Yeah, I heard myself because my brain had yet to catch up with the fuckery my mouth and heart were on. “I love you, Malik.”
“I know you do, now good night.” He slapped my hip.
I sucked my teeth. “Don’t you have something you wanna say back, nigga.”
“Man you know I love yo’ ass. Loved you since I started planning our wedding about fifteen minutes after we met.”
I’m glad the lights were out because I was smiling big as hell. I’m talking the corners of my mouth reached the top of my cheekbones type of smile. The type of smile that had my jaw hurting.
“All that fucking smiling. Can we go to sleep now, or you wanna hear me say that shit in another language, too?”
“Yeah, I wanna hear you speak it in tongues.” Before he could respond to what I was saying my hand was in his briefs.
By the time he caught on, I had his hardness free and in my hands while my face hovered over him.
“Yo’ ass is going to he—fucckk,” he stared, but my mouth wrapped around his dick and hand massaging his balls shut that down. Within seconds his hand was in my scalp while he struggled to get my full name out of his lips. Nigga was so tongue tied that he started to stutter. He was fucked up, unable to even complete a word. It was intentional. I was intentionally swallowing his dick. Intentionally rendering him unable to do shit but massage my scalp while I bobbed my head up and down showing him the physicality of my love.
Chapter 15
Countdown
MALIK -A FEW WEEKS LATER…
Alot of motherfuckers had made my list. A lot of them had to see me but seemed to be ducking a lot of action. The thing is that didn’t stop them from attempting to throw rocks and hide behind shit. Just like right fucking now, instead of being buried deep between Ree’s thighs I was here. Ro and I had gotten a call early this morning because some shit had gone down during a transport. I didn’t like these calls, but it came with the territory.
Ro’s eyes peered a head while one of the young niggas who worked for us explained the situation. He was stuttering and shot which seemed to be a red flag to me, but I didn’t splatter his shit across the pavement because one I was practicing patience, and two if I did I’d have nobody to tell me what happened. Afterall he was the only nigga still living out of the whole ordeal. Whatever had happened was enough to have bodied not only the niggas who attempted the shit, but my folks too. Four niggas went and only one came out alive. Something was fishy.
“How you still breathing then?” Ro asked never looking at the lil’ nigga.
“Cause I know how to duck, and my aim i?—”
“Nah, ‘cause this nigga is a narc,” Lue’s voice from across the room shattered the moment.
Confused, I stepped back but nodded for Lue to keep going. He was a quiet nigga who got his paper and kept it moving, never finding his way on the side of the bullshit that a lot of other niggas played into.
“Mari said he didn’t trust him. Said he had been moving odd ever since they grabbed him off the streets. Even told me if something happened to him to look in this nigga’s direction because he had been partnered with him for the runs.”
“You got proof of that?” Zero asked, giving Lue his undivided attention.
“Yup.” Lue came closer with his phone extended, showing messages. My eyes lulled over the messages for a moment before they landed back on the nigga in front of me. He was shaking, not even bothering to refute Lue’s claims. That alone told me they were indeed true.
Then like a complete fucking idiot he turned and tried to run. Ro was quicker than both of us, because within seconds a gunshot filled the air, and old boy dropped with the wind.
“I ain’t kill him. Have somebody stitch him up, and you,” he pointed to Lue, “get all we need to know out of him.”
Lou nodded.
I watched Zero walk out of the open doors toward the water while I waited for somebody to come pick old boy he’d shot up off the floor. It was fucked up that I didn’t know this nigga’s name, but even more fucked up that a nigga whose name I didn’t know could’ve been out here putting my freedom at risk.
