“I am. Ain’t you supposed to be eating healthy or something? That shit doesn’t look healthy to me.”

I sent a glare into his direction. “Not a soul said it was healthy.”

Rev laughed. “Leave my sister alone, nigga.”

“Oh, so you wanna take up for lil’ fat ass, but where yo’ ass been?”

“Busy, but I’m here now.”

We talked for a whale longer, before they both left. Then once again it was just me left alone with my thoughts and Irish’s words. He was right though. I could sit in here and mentally make this hell, or I could do all of the things I still hadn’t been enough to do. I had to change my mindset and direct my energy.

I had actually gotten into that, window shopping and looking through Pinterest for how I wanted the nursery. I guess that and all our needs would be my project.

My phone ringing on the sofa next to me broke my train of thought. Allowing my iPad to slide off my lap, I clicked the greencircle on the screen to answer the phone for my mother. I knew well enough not to decline her calls. Shit, if I did she’d be on the first plane out here.

“Hey mama,” I greeted, picking the iPad back up to resume my search.

“Hey baby, I was just calling to check in with you. You told me you’d call me back yesterday.”

A giggle escaped my lips. “I fell asleep.”

“I figured. How are you feeling?”

“Better. I just got a talking to by my brothers and as it seemed, the boys are asleep. Thank God.”

“Good. Has your sister set a date for the shower yet? I need to take my week off in advance.”

I sucked my teeth. They were so damn excited about this shower, while I didn’t want to play corny ass games and entertain.

My mother chuckled. “Stop being a gump, you might enjoy it.”

“Might? I highly doubt that. What do you. Think about a safari themed nursery?”

“That sounds nice. You going to do little stuffed animals an—” her sentence was interrupted by the sound of someone talking in her background. “Baby, I’ll call you right back, okay?”

“Yeah.” I nodded as if she could hear me right before the phone alerted me to her hanging up.

Once again I was just left with myself and my thoughts. Suddenly that didn’t seem so bad, it actually felt good to focus on something, to think about things that didn’t pertain to what happen to me. To plan for my babies future. It felt good to plan and make to-do lists once again.

Zero came in late, which made it impossible for me to fall asleep. I lay awake staring out of the window at the moon for what felt like hours until I heard him emptying his pockets onto dresser. It had to be like three in the morning, because I myself didn’t make it to my bed until like one. That battery Irish had put in my back burned well until then. Zero moved about my bedroom for a while before I heard the shower water on in the washroom. He was in there for what felt like an eternity before I heard him stalk into the room. Then it felt like even longer, before he was climbing into bed with me. I was grateful though, because within seconds he was pulling me into him.

“You up?”

“Like a desperate bitch on a Friday night.”

He laughed, before he pressed his lips to my flesh. A contact that set off a fire in that spot, amongst others.

“I missed you.”

“You did?” His hand left the speed hump considered my stomach and traveled into my shorts. “Missed me like what?”

“Like a lot,” I moaned the moment his hands made contact with what was now a waterpark between my legs.

“I can tell.”

Dick was on my mind, so I wasn’t able to make out what else he’d said.

The next thing I knew I was on my back and he was on his knees in front of me. “Pretty as fuck, baby mama.” His hands now rested on my knees. Then he leaned down and engulphed his face with the waterpark between my legs.
