“Count me in. How soon can I expect my product?” He looked out at the empty water and open sky.
“Tomorrow morning if you got the dough.”
Seconds later he popped his trunk. “You wanna count that shit, God?”
I chuckled at the realization that he had already come here intending on shopping with me.
“My bitch be talking that shop black shit anyway.”
We went over specifics for a while longer before I made the call to Malik on what to have Gram and the boys prepare for movement. Of course we talked in code planning a fucking block party, because you never knew who was listening on the line. Once the cash was transferred to my trunk, Henny and I parted ways. I went directly to my place, because not only did I have to talk to Asha about Amia, but I had a trunk full of cash that needed to be put up.
Right when I was pulling up to the crib, I checked my messages still not seeing one from baby girl. I know it was still early, and our activities from last night put her down, but damn.Deciding not to await her call, I clicked around on my phone before I found her number.
Clicking it, I sat back in my seat waiting for her to answer.
“Hmmm?” I could tell she was still sleep or had a pin in mouth. The latter was often because she was indeed a beautician.
“You wasn’t gonna call a nigga when you got up? Thought we handled all those transgressions the other day.”
She giggled into the phone. “We did, I’m just working on your aunties’ wig for the wedding, and I still have to get packed. Why am I just finding out we’ll be there for almost a week?”
“Because you ‘ont pay attention to shit. Since you’re on that packing train you finna come over here and help me get packed when you finished?”
“Only to pack.”
We both knew that was a lie. We both knew the moment she walked in the door that was her committing to riding and taking dick for the next few hours until she physically couldn’t.
“Why didn’t you wake me before you left?”
“Tried to, but you mumbled some shit like leave you the fuck alone and I did just that.”
She chortled into the phone. “I did not.”
“The fuck you did. You’re ‘bout mean as fuck in your sleep. The only way to wake you up is with dick.”
“Why do you have to be so nasty? How do you know I’m not around anybody or at the shop?”
“Cause you just told me and besides, you know I’m not the type of nigga you put on no speaker phone. I don’t filter shit I gotta say.”
“I know.”
I talked to her for a while longer before deciding it was time to go in my house where I knew both of my sisters were. Amiawas there because at this moment she lived there, and Asha was flying in with us.
With three duffle bags, I trucked it into the crib and straight to my bedroom where Asha followed me. She had been sitting on the couch when I walked in, but now I see I had her undivided attention.
“How was y’all’s talk?”
“She hasn’t been out of her room. Then when I went in there to talk to her, she acted like I’m the enemy.” She was concerned, I could see it etched in her face.
“She’s gotta grow the fuck up, Asha. I don’t have time to be coddling he?—”
“She says you have a girlfriend. The girl that used to do her hair. That you spend all of your time working or with her.” Now Asha had a smirk on her face. “Look I’m sorry if I no longer wanna talk about your sister. Instead I wanna meet the woman who made Zero commit.”
After I secured the money, I turned and left her nosy ass in my room. She was about ready to be all in my business while she was here.
“What’s her name? What does she?—”
“Slow down shorty. You might meet her tonight and don’t be on no weird shit.” I grabbed a glass from my cabinet for some water.
