Of course I nearly spit out my water and lost all composure because this was what I was talking about. After swallowing hard, I just looked at him. “And there you go.”

“What?” He looked genuinely confused. “Giving you compliments?”

“If you know I’m with Hadees, why would you want me? Don’t they say how you get them is how you lose them.”

He nodded. “You’re probably right, but that doesn’t pertain to me nor you. When you’re mine fully not a nigga will be able to step to you because for one, he’ll have something hot waiting on his ass and two.” He paused, before leaning forward and it was almost like his eye contact became more intense. “Because I’ll be making you cum daily, making sure you feel as heard as you do now and everything necessary to ensure your security.”

I just looked at him, speechless. With every word he spoke it felt like a warm blanket was being thrown on my body in the cold. This man was dangerous, and I could see that much in his eyes, but that hardheaded part of me needed to know more of him. Dinner continued on as he and I really took the time to get to know one another. I had become so swallowed up in his presence that I didn’t want to part, but we had to.

I looked up at my building, before I glanced back at him. I didn’t wanna get out of this car, but I had to. “I enjoyed myself.”

“Good. Maybe next time you’ll let me take you out for real.”

I turned my face in his direction, just looked at him. He was really not giving one shit about the fact that I was in a whole relationship. Then as if it wasn’t obvious that he didn’t give a shit, he grabbed my chin and pulled my face into his. Before I knew it, his lips had seized control of mine. What started out as a peck ended up with me gently biting and sucking his bottom lip. Then it hit me what I was doing and where I was. Snatching back I looked at him before shaking my head.

“Malik I can?—”

“I ain’t a patient man, but I swear I’ma try.”

He didn’t give me a chance to respond before he was out of the door and coming around. He seemed almost mad, but how could he be? I had a man, and he knew that. Shit, we both knew that, but I knew tonight I wouldn’t dream about my man.

When I got out of the car, he gave me a tight ass hug before his lips grazed my forehead. Men like Malik were dangerous, because they didn’t have to do much to have you eating out the palm of their hands.

When I made it into my building my first call was to Irish, because I knew for a fact Empress was somewhere with her legs open. No I wasn’t being mean, I knew my sister and anytime she dropped her location to me that’s what that meant. Shit, at least one of us was getting some.

“Yeah.”

“Why do you sound so dry?” I asked immediately frowning up at his unhappiness.

“It’s the weekend and I ain’t got a drink, but I got shorty.” He referred to his daughter as shorty which always made me laugh. He and his baby mama took every other weekend for my niece, so that they both got time with her and for themselves.

“Good, I’m on my way up. We can get something brought to us. I need your input on something.”

“On what? I told you I ain’t like that square ass nigga the first time you—” he started. Irish had never been a fan of Hadees because he felt like he was sneaky and the type to throw a brick and hide his hand.

“It’s not about him. Well not technically, but I need one of my siblings’ input. Empress is ducked off, so that leaves you.”

He chuckled. “Could’ve told you that. I talked to her a few hours ago and her line had more action than twenty-sixth. How long we gonna let her move like that?”

“She’s slowed down. Besides old boy from the bar the other night, she’s been talking to Khalil.”

“Khalil who and who from what fucking bar?”

“Pick one. Which one do you want to know about, because I’m not going to give you the rundown of both.” I stepped on the elevator pressing his floor number instead of mine.

“Khalil,” he answered after long enough. This fool ass definitely thought about it and I knew he’d catch her at some point and ask her about old boy from the bar.

“Khalil Seagram. He plays for the Pirates. She met him at Nobu.”

“Quarterback?” he asked.

“Yes.” The elevator door opened seconds later.

“Well, shit she needs to keep him. The fuck we letting her play hopscotch for when she done already bagged the fucking chalk up?”

“Nigga what?” I asked confused. “Open the door.”

“Exactly what I said. Most of y’all females ain’t out here looking for love and then the ones who are haven’t been hurt yet. After that hurt though, females be like fuck love lemme’ get some security. Lemme make sure I ain’t in a Buick crying when I should be in a Rolls. Tell me if I’m wrong.” He finished his sentence as he opened the door.
