“Why the fuck did you hang up on me?” he asked.

“Because I was talking to somebody, what are you doing?” I settled into my car seconds before the newly saved number 0 texted me his address. The least he could’ve done was put his name as Zero instead of an actual damn number.

“In the house, unlike you. Remember what big mama says. The only thing open around this time of night is legs.”

“You’re right. Mine will for sure be open.”

“I don’t wanna hear that shit, Em!” He hated when I mentioned my sex life, but he always talked about his. The nigga was borderline a sexist.

“Don’t be telling me shit that Big Mama said. You already know what I was about to say.”

I keyed Zero’s address into my GPS and listened to my brother go on and on about how he hated his baby mama for the next five minutes. At this point, I hated the bitch too. But he didn’t really hate her. He loved her.

The GPS told me that I was fifteen minutes away from his place which I was grateful for because I couldn’t drive for real. I was out here fake driving, and every one of my siblings knew it. I took the street everywhere and I avoided the Expressway by all cost.

A beeping filled the speakers in my car, signaling someone was on my other line. When I glanced down on the console, I saw Khalil’s name. That meant he’d either just gotten out of practice or he was on his way there. He was a pastime, conversationalist never someone who just called to call.

“One minute, Irish.” Before he could tell me how inconsiderate I was, I clicked over to see what Khalil wanted.

“Where you headed, baby girl?”

“To chill. How do you know I’m in a car?” I quizzed.

“I heard your turning signal when you answered.”

“Oh, okay. What are you up to?” I asked.

“Late night function for one of the homies. I gotta show face.” As soon as he finished speaking, I heard the other line beep, indicating Irish had hung up the phone.

“You still ain’t told me where you headed.”

I giggled. “To chill and let loose.”

“You know if you stopped giving a nigga the runaround, you could chill and let loose here.”

“When did I give you the runaround? You’re the one with the busy schedule,” I responded knowing damn well he was right.

“Bet.”

“What do you mean bet?” I pulled into a parking space in front of Zero’s place.

“When I hit you up and tell you that your ticket is at the desk don’t say shit, but I’m on my way.”

I laughed. “Alright.”

We talked for a little while longer before he had to go, and I for sure knew I did. The second we hung up I spotted Zero pulling up behind me. I expected him to get out of the car, but he didn’t and then seconds later I got a request for FaceTime notification from him. I pressed the green button on the console to answer.

“Pull in the driveway.” He hung up right after he said that.

I did as he asked. I turned my car off and got out with my food in my hand. I met him at my bumper where we stood for a moment before he gripped my ass cheek with no warning.

Can’t say I didn’t like it. If anything, I relished in his aggressive ass touch. Once we made it into his place, I set my food on his counter while he walked around, turning on the lights.

“Parked right behind yo’ ass so you can’t get ghost on me in the morning.”

I laughed. “That was some premeditated ass shit and for the millionth time I didn’t get ghost.”

“Yo’ ass did, but it’s cool.”
