“You assume I have it all.”

“Don’t you?”

“No.” I shoot out of my chair. “Yeah, I’ve got money. I’ve got opportunity. I’ve got all the things that seem like my life should be a fucking dream on paper. But look at me. I’m here.”

Ethan squares his shoulders, defensive. “I don’t follow.”

“I have no independence!” I scream. “Everything I do is under a microscope. My father’s in charge of my fucking life, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t break free.”

A quick beat passes between us. Ethan moves closer. “Are you trying to break free?”

Rage. Burning hot anger. “Of course I am.” I spit.

“You got a job?”

“No?”

“Looked for another place to live?”

“No.”

“A plan at least to get one of the two?”

“No, alright. My father won’t let me.” Ethan huffs and turns his back on me. “What the hell, man? It’s not as easy as you think.”

“You know what’s not easy? Joining the service because you don’t have any other options, then getting a medical discharge just when you realize it’s the best thing that ever happened to you.” The intensity in his voice stops me in my tracks.

“Your leg.”

“Yeah, my leg. Now I’m stuck watching entitled folks like you for a living, waiting for the day that I can do something for myself again.” His finger darts to his chest. His ragged breath fills the space between us.

“I’m sorry.” I finally say. “You’re right.”

“No.” He pulls away and paces near the fireplace. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said any of that. Who am I to judge you? You’re just doing what you know. We’re all just living our lives doing what we know.” I tiptoe over to him, seemingly lost in his own world. “Funny how we wish we could trade other people’s problems for our own, huh?” He turns toward me, the light in his eyes returning. “I mean it, Avery. That was out of line. I’m sorry I—”

I throw my arms around his neck, pulling his face toward me until his soft lips meet my own.

Avery’son me before I can stop it—and I should, but I can’t. I’ve wanted this since the minute I locked eyes with her. A million thoughts run through my head. Of course, this is completely unethical to the job, but dammit, I can’t control the way I feel for her. She's a pain in my ass, and I love it.

I part her lips with my tongue, tasting every inch of her sweet, honey mouth. Her fingers grip my neck as my cock pulses against my jeans. I can’t pull away from her; I want her too much.

My fingers fumble with the hem of her sweatshirt, and we manage to pull ourselves apart from each other long enough so I can pull it over her head. She’s wearing a tank top underneath but no bra. I palm one of her breasts, lowering my mouth so I can suck one of her hardened nipples into my mouth over the cotton. Avery moans as my other hand slides under her tank, caressing the soft flesh of her stomach, raising the fabric until my mouth finally makes contact with her skin.

I suck her rock-hard peak into my mouth as she fists my hair. “Get this fucking thing off,” I say, tugging at the tank top. Avery does as I ask, throwing it to the side. “God, you’re fucking beautiful.” Avery gasps when I grip her waistband and pull her toward me.

I slide her shorts and panties down her full hips, kissing the tops of her thighs as I make my way down. “That tickles,” she whispers.

“So will this.” I spread her legs wider, getting down on my knees for my goddess. I catch a whiff of her intoxicating scent, and an animalistic urge overtakes me. I want to please her like I’ve never wanted to please anyone.

Unable to control myself, I slide my tongue along the length of her dripping wet slit, lapping up her juices like it’s my last meal on Earth. “You taste better than a strawberry milkshake.” I tease.

“Cherry,” she says, peering down at me, then lifts her leg over my shoulder. I grip her round, ripe ass and bury my face in her, sliding one finger in. She inhales sharply as I nip and suck at her tiny bundle of nerves, sawing my finger in and out until I find the right spot.

“That’s it,” she moans. I feel like I could conquer the world. “Yeah, right there.”
