So,Screw it, I had thought.

I could deal with wearing an old pair of panties with some ridiculous cartoon fruits embroidered on them for one day.

It’s not like anyone is going to see them anyways, I had told myself as I pulled my long strawberry blonde hair back into a manageable ponytail. Then I grabbed the panties with a huff and shoved them in my bag on my way out the door.

Across the weight room, down the stairs, take a left, first door on your right.

That’s what the bright eyed front desk worker had told me as she handed me my brand new gym membership card and complimentary towel when I walked through the door promptly at 5:59 a.m.

“The women’s locker room is across the weight room. Just head down the stairs, take a left, and it’ll be the first door on your right.”

“Across the weight room, down the stairs, take a left, first door on my right,” I repeated back to the woman. “Got it. Thank you so much.” I gave her a quick smile and nod as I turned away and took off walking.

After getting halfway across the weight room, I felt my phone vibrate in my bag and pulled it out. When I saw the email notification light up my screen, I immediately opened it, not able to stop myself.

Welcome to the Art Institute of Texas. Today is day one of capturing your dreams. We are thrilled to welcome you.

I smiled to myself, feeling pride pinching in my chest.

Across the weight room, down the stairs, take a left, first door on your right,I recited to myself as the stairs came into view.

I continued scrolling through the email, looking for my course list to quadruple check that it was correct.

I couldn’t help the grin that spread across my face, just like every other time I’d seen it in writing.

Collins Bohemian. COBO Magazine.

My dream internship.

My dream internship at my dream company that I get to perform while attending my dream school.

Just forty-eight hours ago, I was still in my small town in Georgia. And now I’m here.

Going to AIT and interning for Collins freaking Bohemian.

Finding myself completely overwhelmed by the thought for the hundredth time this week, I halfway stumbled down the first few steps of the stairs before me.

“Shit,” I muttered, correcting myself.

Across the weight room, down the stairs, take a left, first door on your right.

As I continued down the stairs, the dumb smile I was still sporting wavered as realization hit me.

Unless I missed something, which was highly doubtful, I hadn’t heard anything from COBO since a few months ago when I was officially offered the internship. My first day with them wasn’t for a few more weeks, but I still wanted to be prepared.

Scratch that, Ineededto be prepared.

This is it, I thought.Everything I’ve been working for.
