I’m not sure exactly what the guys were up to during the day, but ours consisted of brunch with many mimosas, a long afternoon at the spa with manicures and pedicures, then a nice dinner at a private restaurant.
When I told Emma I didn’t want anything crazy or insane for my bachelorette party, she was a little bummed. But she knows partying isn’t my style, and with Aubrey only being twenty and not technically legal yet, I didn’t want to have to exclude her from the fun. Emma quickly understood and came up with this amazing day. But now the fun really begins.
“Does anyone know when the boys are getting here?” one of the other spouses yells. Since they were to be present at my wedding, I invited all of them along for the party.
“Clay texted not too long ago, saying they were on their way,” Morgan shouts back.
We’re all getting ready for our little surprise of the night for the guys. Everyone is scattered around on the second level, using bathrooms and mirrors to fix up their hair and makeup.
My three girls and I are in my room getting ready together. “Hey, where’s Milo? I haven’t seen him since we arrived,” Aubrey asks from beside me at the sink mirror.
“Oh, he’s with the sitter. We thought it would be best if he weren’t here while we went crazy. But he’ll be back tomorrow for the wedding.” I smile through the mirror.
She nods, then studies me for a moment before speaking up again. “Do you have any doubts?”
I put down my lipstick, the final touch to my makeup, and turn to face her. “No, not one. Is that crazy?” I laugh. “I thought I would, I thought I’d be questioning if maybe we’re going too fast or if this is the right thing to do. But I’m not. Silas means the world to me, and I know without a doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with him.” Just thinking about marrying him fills me with joy. “Is marriage not something you want?”
Aubrey finishes applying her mascara, then puts it down by the sink and lets out a breath. “I don’t know, it just seems scary. I’ve never experienced love like the one you and Silas have or even Morgan and Clay. Yes, my parents are married and seem happy, but I’ve seen so many of my friends’ parents fight all the time or end up in divorce. I’ve watched them live with hate and regret and the aftermath it has on their kids.”
She looks down at the vanity, index finger gliding over the smooth surface. “I guess the thought of committing to someone that deeply and having a chance of it ending like that makes me question if it’s really something I want,” she says with a shrug, a dejected look in her eyes.
I place my hand on hers and offer a kind smile. “It’s completely normal to have those fears and to question things. Until I lived it myself, I always wondered if it were truly for me, if I would know when it was‘the one’. But you’re still young and beautiful, and you’re smart, Aubrey. You have all the time in the world to figure those things out.”
She looks into my eyes, uncertainty still swirling through them.
“And if you decide marriage isn’t for you, then that’s fine, too. But trust me, when you do find the right person, and you will, you’ll know it. And whoever it is is going to be one lucky bastard.” I hug her, hoping I lifted her spirit a little. “Now let’s go join the others and blow some minds.”
We’re giggling as we head downstairs with the rest of the girls, all of us dressed in knee-length white sexy robes. It looks innocent enough, but what hides underneath is anything but. We’re all seated in the living room, chatting and drinking wine, when suddenly the whole house shuts off. A total blackout.
“What the hell?” someone says.
It’s so dark that I literally can’t see my hand in front of me. “Give me a second to findmy phone, I’ll see what’s going on,” I announce.
Our home is a smart house, which means everything works through an app. Before I even have time to get up, the recessed lighting above turns on to a dim red glow, then the sound system turns on, blasting ‘Pony’by Ginuwine.
We’re all looking around at one another, trying to figure out what’s going on, when the front door bursts open and the men come strolling in. All wearing gray sweatpants and tight white t-shirts.
“We heard there was a bachelorette party going on in here. We thought we’d join the fun and show you ladies”—Gabe says while they all come to stand in front of us in the living room while we girls remain seated—“A good time.”
All at once, they remove their shirts and drop their sweats.Holy shit.My living room is suddenly full of beautiful men wearing nothing but matching black boxers, and they’re doing some sort of choreographed male stripper dance.
The room erupts in howls and cheers as the girls lose their minds. Silas winks at me, and I break out in a fit of giggles. Watching the scene unfold, I realize this is very similar to what we had planned, which makes me think that one of the girls may have snitched on our little secret.
Halfway through the song, the boys start prowling toward us, clearly on a mission. Then the lap dances start, every girl getting her own mostly naked man above her. Well, except for Aubrey who’s being ganged up on by Gabe and Noah, and Emma who has both Greyson and Spencer.
Emma looks completely in her element, putting her hands on them and enjoying the moment. “Woo-hoo! Someone get the dollar bills! That’s what I’m talking about!” she shouts, making Morg and I laugh.
Aubrey, on the other hand, looks completely horrified with her hands up by her chest as she tries desperately not to touch them. I wish I had my phone to take a picture, her expression is priceless.
The guys are all taking this pretty seriously, big smiles on their faces as they perform. I look up to Silas who straddles me, his hard bulge rubbing against me, bringing my lady parts to life as the room’s temperature suddenly doubles.
God, I can’t wait to return the favor.
He leans in and kisses my lips just as the song ends. They all get back to their feet and high-five each other, exclaiming how awesome it was. I’ll admit, it was really well done. It almost makes it seem like they do this regularly in their free time.
“Who told you?” I ask once the commotion begins to settle.
Silas turns to me with a confused look. “Told us what?”
