Cutter hobbles to his bed and lies down, grumbling the whole time. “I hate you seeing me like this.”

“Despite your desire to not be—you’re still human. Humans have medical issues that necessitate ugly hospital gowns sometimes. I bet you saw Aja in an ugly hospital gown.”

“But she’s a woman—and she’smywoman. You’re not mine.”

Gee rolls her eyes. “Get over yourself.”

“Right. You’re here. You gonna kiss me?” I ask, but it’s more of a demand.

Not lying, I’m still a little pissed that she showed up here. No man wants his woman to see him this vulnerable, but she’s right. We’re human. I either let her into my life or I don’t. Since she’s here now, since I love her, I have to get my shit together with being all right letting her into all parts of my life. She bends in to kiss me. Gee opens her mouth to me and it turns only slightly pornographic.

When she pulls back she says, “I want to help.”

I know. I just don’t want her to.

“My brother is probably going to be pissed.”

Oh, he’ll lose his fucking shit seeing her here, but he also has no say. She’s my woman and that ranks higher than being her brother.

“Don’t worry. I’ll talk to him,” I offer.

She outright laughs at me. “You really thought that would work, didn’t you? I’m not scared of my brother and you have to recover. Point me in his direction.”

As it turns out, I don’t have to point her in his direction. Vlad heard some of the women showed and went apoplectic. He storms into my room ready to tear Gee a new asshole when she shuts that shit down before he ever gets a word out. Damn, I’m proud of her. It’s sexy as hell to watch the woman I love go allbad-fucking-bitchon the president of a motorcycle club, even if he happens to bemypresident.

Only a day passes with nothing else going on when Block rushes into the room and I go on alert. Cut goes alert. Gee goes alert.

“What?” I ask.

“Dusty says you got medical training?” he asks and I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about until Gia answers.

“I let my license lapse about a year ago. I was a CNA, though.”

“Got men coming in,” he says. “Private contractor. The mission didn’t go well. I need every available body.”

“Right,” Gee says, pushing up from her chair. She kisses me once quickly and then rushes to help. “Scrubs?” she asks.

“Check in at the nurses’ station. They’ll get you set.”

Then both are gone from the room.

“Did that just happen?” Cut asks.

“It happened. Damn, I love that woman. Did you see her just jump right in? No questions asked.”

“I saw it. Thank fuck Aja’s not here because she’d be in there offering her help, too.”

“What’s wrong with that?” I ask.

“Woman deserves easy for a while. I want her having easy as long as possible.”

I can’t argue with that.

A couple more days pass before Block finally gives me and Cut our freedom papers. Seeing as I was starting to lose my shit being cooped up for so long, we don’t waste any time getting the hell out of there. Sarge shows in a big, black SUV with Carter, one of his Raider brothers, to grab us.

We travel back to Carter’s place. A fucking gorgeous house right on the beach. Whatever he does for a living, that man makes bank. I do well with my place in the club, but I don’t dobig-ass house on the beachwell.

My brothers have been staying here, recovering, while Cut and I recovered in the hospital. The home is a single-story, painted white concrete blocks and full of windows. He has them open because I see the white draperies billowing in the breeze coming in off the water.
