She sighs that kind oflaughing, was nervous but now she’s notkind of sigh. “I’m Elise Hollister. My husband is Bossman, the vice president of the Brimstone Lords.” Well, I’ve definitely heard of the Brimstone Lords.

“Oh, wow. What can I help you with?”

“It’s what I can helpyouwith. Our clubs used to be enemies, even back when I got involved with Boss. Now they’re tight. I figure the Horde men are probably similar to our men in that they love to keep the women out of the loop even when we are very much in the line of fire.”

Definitely yes. “You are correct with that assumption,” I reply.

“We’d like to meet. Caity—erm—Dr. Brennan-Ellis, she’s Duke’s wife, we were talking and figured if things are going for the Horde the way they’re going here, it’s the right thing to do.”

“Okay. When and where?”

“Well, we’re under armed guards here.”

“As are we. But we got out once before. We can do it again. How many women do you want me to bring?”

“Wegot out?” she asks, laughing.

“Me, Dusty, and Danni.”

“I know Dusty. Never met Danni,” she replies.

“Well, as of right now, we’re the only ones in the club without small children or babies.”

“Bring them. I want to meet Danni. I don’t like not knowing people. We have ways of slipping past the guards as well. Can you meet us in Richmond? There’s a restaurant near the campus.” She goes on to give me the place and the time. Once she and I hang up, I call Dusty and Danni and ask them to join me in my room.

Only a few minutes later, the first knock sounds on my door. “Come in,” I call. Dusty strides in.

“What’s up?” she asks.

“I’ll tell you when Danni gets here. She’s kind of important.”

Dusty gets a glint in her eye. “I don’t know what you’re going to say, but I like where this is going.”

The both of us break out laughing. We’re still laughing when the second knock sounds right before the door opens and Danni walks in, closing it behind her.

“What did I miss?” she asks.

“Please, sit.” I gesture to the bed. It’s the only seating in the room. It’s made, so it’s not weird or anything. “I got a call a few minutes ago.”

The women lean in, hooked. “Do tell,” Danni says.

“It was from a woman named Elise Hollister.”

Danni shakes her head, clearly not knowing Elise, but Dusty’s eyes grow huge. “What did Elise want?” Dusty asks.

“She said she assumed that our men are like their men, as in, they don’t ever want to tell us anything, even when we’re involved.”

“She’s not wrong,” Danni says.

“So she wants to set up a meet between women. There’s some major shit going on with the Lords that involves us, too. My guess, the Death Bringers are still causing them trouble, too.”

“Where does she want to meet?” Dusty asks.

“In Richmond. By the university campus.”

“You want me to call Gillian again?”

“If you think she’d do it,” I reply. “If not, then maybe we can recruit Betty.”
