Except as soon as we cuddled up, I dozed off watching Mommy read. Hadn’t even opened my own book…
“Alright, Sleeping Beauty, that’s enough heat for one day. Let’s go upstairs, shower, and get packed.”
I rubbed my eyes and glanced around. Daddy Jack was waking up Vale too. Guess I wasn’t the only sleepy head.
Mommy picked up all our stuff then took my hand, which I was thankful for. My legs were still all wobbly and if I dropped my iPad I’d be super mad.
“I call first dibs on the shower!” Sarah hollered and ran for the one we’d been sharing with her. She firmly stated when we arrived that she was not sharing with men. Raising one son was challenging enough but a bathroom with two of them wasn’t happening in this lifetime or the next. The way she said stuff really cracked me and Mommy up.
While Mommy set the clothes we’d need out and packed the rest, I did my best to stuff as many of my toys and stuffies into my backpack as I could. “Argh!”
“What’s wrong, Princess?”
“They won’t fit, and I want to keep them all with me.” It was sad picturing any of them stuck in my luggage under the plane. What if they got scared and needed a hug?
“Why don’t you take one out to carry and then put the toys in your luggage but your stuffies in your backpack. Will that work?”
Huh. “Maybe?”
“Knock-knock,” Daddy Jack called out as he peeked inside our room. “There’s an empty piece of luggage in the living room that’s perfect for extra stuffies.”
“There you go, Princess. Your toys can play with Vale’s toys on the way home.” Mommy was so smart.
“Good idea, then they won’t be lonely.” It was hard to pick favorites, but Loxi, Princess, s’more, and a couple of others went into the backpack. Princess Bride I’d carry, and the rest went in the luggage with Vale’s. Vale sat on the bag while I zipped it up.
“Whew, that was hard.” He had his monkey backpack on.
“Why are you dressed to go?”
“Silly monkey,” Daddy Jack shook his head and smiled. “We’re not leaving until the morning. Why don’t the two of you set your backpacks with the luggage so it all stays together.”
“’Kay, Daddy.” Vale slid his off and I ran and got mine, then Mommy called out it was our turn to shower.
“Mommy,” she was scrubbing my hair which made it hard to think. “Can I wear my bride veil on the plane? I want to be matchies with my Princess Bride bear.”
“I don’t see why not, sweetheart. What do you think about having a movie night tonight in the living room? You and Vale can cuddle up on the floor. Maybe we can order ice cream from room service if you’re a good girl and eat all your dinner.”
My head bobbed up and down, already fixated on the ice cream part of that. “Yes Mommy, I’ll be a good princess and eat all my dinner. Ice cream is the best and so is movie night.”
“Mommy, can I get a binkie?” For some reason, I’d been fixated on sucking on something when I relaxed. It was like once the idea popped into my head I couldn’t shake it. My eyes were glued to Mommies chest when I fell asleep on her but I was afraid to ask for what I really wanted.
“Absolutely. Did you want bottles too?”
“No, Mommy.” My eyes dropped again. It was like I just couldn’t help it. I don’t know if it was the sucking part of it I was drawn to or the comfort part or just that it was Mommy.
“Is there something going on in that beautiful mind of yours you’d like to share with your Mommy?”
Did I?
Should I?
Would she think I was a freak?
“I um.” My finger had a mind of its own as it swirled around her nipple.
“Is my princess asking for special tickles?”
“No, Mommy. Well, I wouldn’t say no to that but…” Ugh, why was this so hard? “Could I um, since I don’t have a binky, could I.”
