“Well, I’ve had Loxi the longest but they’ve both been in the cabin the same amount of time. I’m a bad stuffie owner, Mommy.”

“How so?”

“I work too much, and they get ignored.” Darcy got sad again. “Maybe someday.” She appeared to be having a silent conversation with them I wasn’t privy to.

“Then I say take them both so they can meet him. Do you know what his boy’s name is?”Good save, Viv. Nearly blurted his name out.

“Uh-huh, it’s Jalen.”

“What a wonderfully unique name. I bet Jalen would enjoy meeting them both.”

She shoved them both in her backpack, then glanced at her watch. “Shoot, I have to go. Love you, Mommy.”

“Love you too, Princess. I can’t wait to hear all about your playdate tonight.” Darcy blew me kisses then hung up and suddenly the emptiness hit me.

Shower done, I dug a tunnel through the sea of boxes straight to my beloved coffee maker. Can’t get angry with the contractor for the piles when they were ninety percent mine. Had I gone a tad overboard with Darcy’s playroom? Absolutely, but I’d also added warmer, homier touches throughout what was our new home. When it was just me it didn’t matter much. The loft only served as a place to lay my head after far too many hours of work.

Now I have movie nights to look forward to, watching my beautiful girl play, and an abundance of her colored pictures adorned the refrigerator. Playdates with friends, having sleepovers with Jack and Vale. This once strict domme was completely changed. With so much more to look forward to my future was no longer dim but full of light and life.

Which reminds me…

Me: Hey Jack, can you ask Vale when Darcy’s birthday is please?

My first Mommy failure. Should’ve been something I asked at the start, but Darcy and I were swept away in a whirlwind romance and the details got side tracked.

Jack: September twenty-first and Sarah says she better damn well be included in all festivities or she’ll tan your hide.

He followed up with a bunch of laughing emojis.

Me: I wouldn’t think of forgetting her. She’s the life of the party and Darcy’s true parent.

Jack: Good save. I adore that woman.

Me: You’re not alone. She’s something else.

Jack: How’s Darcy doing at sea?

Me: Keep this between us, but not well. I reached out to Armando Solis, who happens to be her captain. He whisked her away to his cabin today to play with his boy. I have a feeling this will be her last cruise.

Jack: Wow, that’s a name I haven’t heard in years. Poor thing. Vale didn’t do well without me either, but I know you’ll do right by Darcy.

Me: That goes without saying. Speaking of which, the contractors are here and that’s my queue to head down to the office.

Jack: Can’t wait to see it all done.

Me: We’ll have you and Vale over as soon as my baby girl is home.

Jack and I have seen more of each other since Darcy and I met than we had in the last decade. Sad, when you think about it, especially since we considered each other to be family and he was a silent partner in Blush as well.

The entirety of my life was changing for the better.

For the better part of two decades, I’d trained and honed my skills as a Domme, believing in doing so my life had been set,and I was satisfied with what I’d achieved. None of that held a candle to how great it felt to be Darcy’s Mommy. Never having envisioned that role for myself, it shocked the hell out of me that I’d so easily slid into it.

I’ll spend the rest of my life striving to be the best Mommy for Darcy. There will be ups and downs but together we’ll weather them and learn and grow from our mistakes. I, for one, looked forward to every moment of our lives together and I hoped my sweet girl did too.

“Good morning, Abby,” I greeted my longtime assistant. Abby not only worked for me, but she and her husband were in the BDSM lifestyle as well. “Anything going on?”

“Morning, Viv. Dressler accepted your meeting for this afternoon.”
