“Yes, are you guys still sleeping? It’s noon,” he said it like this was something new.

With late night gigs we frequently slept late into the next day.

“Yeah, we didn’t get to sleep until around five and don’t have to be to the bar tonight to set up until eight.” I yawned through the last part of that.

“Okay sleepy head, go back to sleep. I’ll call you when I’m there,” he said before hanging up.

I tossed my phone back on the nightstand, trying to get back to sleep, but my stomach kept protesting. Diamond was snoring, and Mickey seemed to be out, so I ignored it and passed out only to be woken again after what felt like a minute later. But when I grabbed my phone to answer it I saw it was already two-thirty and it was once again Lucas.

“Hey,” I muttered.

“I’m here, what room are you in?” he asked, I could hear the car beeping in protest of the door being held open.

“One-twenty-seven.” I pushed Stoli who was grounding his morning wood against my thigh.

“Be there in a minute.”

“Okay,” I said, but he’d already hung up.

“Dude, you’re humping my leg like a Chihuahua,” I bitched at him.

“What?” he said, scrambling away from me.

“It’s no big deal, no reason to freak out,” I said as the knock I’d been expecting came.

“Who’s that?” Mickey asked, wiping his eyes.

“Lucas,” I told them.

Stoli bolted out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.

I got up and answered the door. Lucas came in, wrapped his arms around my neck and kissed me.

“Morning,” I mumbled into his hair, winding my arms tightly around him.

“Afternoon,” he teased, leaning around me and looking over at Mickey and Diamond who were still lying in bed. “Morning guys.”

“Hey,” they mumbled.

“Where’s the other one?” he asked. “Wait, did you share a bed with him?”

“Um yeah, why? It isn’t the first time. We’ve shared a bed many times over the years. He’s my best friend.” His question both surprised and stunned me.

Of course, that’s when Stoli decided to exit the bathroom, completely ignoring Lucas on his way over to the bed. Mickey took his turn in the bathroom while Diamond checked his phone.

“We need food,” Diamond said looking back and forth between Stoli and I.

“Agreed,” I let Lucas go so I could get dressed.

“IHop?” Stoli suggested.

“Works for me. Lucas?” I asked.

“Fine by me,” he said, taking at seat in the chair beside the dresser.

Diamond got up to gather his shit and headed to the bathroom, Mickey hadn’t locked the door behind him, so he went right in and was met with Mickey’s protests, but shut the door and stayed inside anyways. A few minutes later, Mickey emerged and shortly thereafter Diamond resurfaced completely unphased by Mickey’s bitching about the intrusion.

“Guess you’ll lock the door next time,” I laughed.
