“That was kinda gross.” Nadia wiggled her nose. “My parents did it in the bathroom.”
“We did in the hallway,” Teddy linked all of us.“Because our mate gets excited about getting caught.”
Our mate blushed. “As long as we don’t get caught,” she added. “I might die if that ever happened.”
We heard the sound of a toilet flush, and Anaki strode out of the bathroom. “You won’t believe what I had to endure.” He raked a hand down his face. “Two fae going at it, and I’m pretty sure it was your parents.”
Nadia laughed and nodded.
Anaki shook his head. “I need to get laid. Everyone does stuff around me, and I can’t join in. It’s getting depressing.” He said in a light tone, but I very well knew he meant it.
He looked over his shoulder and winked. “Just like the time when Nadia sucked off Bear in the living room, and I had to pretend I was asleep.”
Nadia’s face paled.
I snorted and pushed his shoulder. “Asshole.”
Anaki walked away with a light step, whistling a tune as I took Nadia’s hand in mine. Sizzle, Tajah, and others waved goodbye to us as we got closer to the door. When it opened, we could feel the sweet spring breeze that signaled away the cold winter air. Grass and trees were all in bloom, and colors of life were brought back to the village.
Mostly, thanks to the faes of course. I was sure the area surrounding the town would be nothing but a warm spot from now on.
“Ready for a ride?” I handed her the helmet on the back of my bike, and she grabbed it eagerly.
I double-checked the straps of her helmet before she climbed on with me. I could still smell her honey scent, and now with the slit in her leggings, it would coat the seat of my bike.
“I can hear your thoughts loud and clear,” she said over the roar of the engine.
I smirked and grabbed her arm to wrap around me. “Good, you were supposed to.”
I revved the engine several times before we took off into the night to head home. To our home. I took a deep breath, thankful that the many obstacles that brought us here were over.
I knew that we had many more to come, including dealing with Duke Idris and Locke and his future. But we were here now, we lived for tonight.
Nadia nuzzled into my back, her arms wrapped around my waist. “Let’s go, Teddy, time’s a wasting.”
And with that, we left the Iron Fang for the night, to live in our little cabin on the mountain.
Chapter Forty-Two
Nadia
Istudiednonstopduringthe final weeks of Delilah’s pregnancy. Well, as much as Bear had allowed me to. He was still very protective of me, and I didn’t see that going away anytime soon.
He hovered, which I really didn’t mind. I didn’t want to be alone, especially when I slept. I hardly dreamed anymore, and I think it was because of the necklace I wore. It didn’t ward off just demons, but I guess it warded off any dreams period.
Which I was happy with.
I slept in a dreamless sleep unless Nikita came to talk to me or if Bear wanted to see what I was seeing. It was strange he could enter my mind by just sinking his teeth into my shoulder. My mark, that is.
He was always checking, though, which I was grateful for.
Bones gave me free rein of his clinic. He didn’t use it very often, only for the occasional stitch or two for the unmated. A lot of his supplies were carried in his bag that he carried around with him, wanting to be helpful wherever he went.
And he was.
Bones and I had an odd relationship now. The men of the Iron Fang only wanted the females to see me. Unfortunately, I could only do so much with them because I was only trained in midwifery, but Bones suggested that I start taking classes to improve my skills.
We didn’t need a doctor, not really. The more serious trauma Bones could do, especially in a do-or-die situation. Bones saw it differently, however, and he wanted to take me under his wing and taught me what I needed to know because he said there may be a day he couldn’t help anymore.
