“That my burdens are yours to help carry now?”
It was so soft I barely heard it over the idling of the engine. I grabbed her arm and pulled her in front of me, so we could have this conversation face-to-face. She wiggled as I set her down, so she straddled my waist.
It was bright outside, the mid-afternoon sun blaring down on us. The noise of my bike was louder than anything else in the vicinity. There were onlookers, eyeing the outward display of affection, but I didn’t give a fuck. Those rich twats could suck my dick.
“No, only Delilah can do that. This dick is for Delilah only,”my wolf grumbled.
“Fine, my asshole. They can tongue my asshole,”I said back.
“Ehhhh,”my wolf started, but I blocked him out.
I’m not into asshole licking.
“Sunshine, I will take on anything. Physical or emotional, you are my priority, and I am here to keep you safe. I’m yours now, and no one will hurt you, not when you’re with me.”
Her lip twitched. “What if you’re the one causing the pain?”
“Dude, she got you.”My wolf snorted.
“I’m never fucking leaving you, Dede. You’re mine now.” I revved the engine and had her wrap her legs around my waist.
“You can’t drive like this!” she shouted.
“Like fuck I can’t. Now be still,” I growled.
The vibration between my legs from the bike and Delilah’s sweet pussy in front of me brought memories of this morning. Beautifully pink, dripping, her scent encompassing me like a warm blanket. Her body was limp in my arms, gorgeously sated,Those thoughts from waking this morning with my arms around her made me grow hard in my seat.
I took in the fresh air, the wind in my beard as we flew down Main Street. I couldn’t floor it like back home. I had no jurisdiction here, but I’m sure I could fucking scare a cop out of a ticket.
My palms rubbed the handlebars, the tips of my fingers begging to touch Delilah’s glorious tits. Would they be pale pink? Or a darker dusky color, just like her neatly trimmed cunt?
My wolf purred, growling too loudly, and could be easily heard by Delilah. She didn’t speak, however, as she tried to nuzzle under my neck despite the bulbous helmet.
I was stupid, so utterly stupid to think that I could live without her. My wolf was doing funny things inside me, things he’d never done before I was rejected from my first mate. My wolf wanted this so badly, he was whimpering. He wanted to mark her.
But marking her? What would happen?
The urge to call Journey and Grim was strong, but I also didn’t want Locke to know where I was. I didn’t want to be called home and forced back to the Iron Fang. I needed to let Delilah feel like she had a choice, even when she didn’t.
Because I wasn’t letting her go. And there was no trail even for Grim to find with his nose. It was what I did—the guard that hides in the shadows. The darkness that looks over the light.
I drove her back to the hotel. The extended stay hotel was a shit hole, and I had plans to move her to something nicer, but then my wolf had made a damned nest. He wouldn’t like it if I moved rooms now because he had put our scents all over it. Messing up a male’s nest before a female could inspect it properly was bad luck, and I needed all the luck I could get.
I killed the engine, keeping Delila’s legs wrapped around me. I knew she had some major separation anxiety going on with us right now, but I had to see what this old man was about. I had to protect her.
Her safety was at risk, and I damn well knew he knew what I was. His shifty gaze continually looking back at me when Delilah was distracted meant he knew something was up. If he was on the wrong side of the fence, he could squeal to someone who could get in touch with the council, and that would fuck everything up.
“Dede, I have to run an errand.” I unbuckled her helmet.
Her nose wrinkled, her brows furrowing.
“What kind of errand? Couldn’t you have done it while I was at work? I thought we were going to talk now?” Her words weren’t demanding or accusing, just on the curious side.
I was in a new town, my brothers weren’t here, and I didn’t really want to leave her. But I had to.
“Remember when I said I was protecting you? That I’d do it with my life?”
Delilah nodded.
