Journey grabbed Delilah by both wrists. My heart pounded hard in my chest seeing her grab the broken one. Journey’s eyes glowed bright blue, almost white, and Delilah’s screams stopped, her eyes closed, and a delightful sigh escaped her lips.

The pain was gone, and Delilah’s body fell limp in my arms.

“What did you do to her?” I panicked, cupping my mate’s cheek. “Is she okay?”

Delilah laid still, her lips parting. The soft pants of her sweet smelling breath brushed against my cheek. Her eyes fluttered open and sparkled, and I swore she could smile with them.

“Shit, Sunshine, don’t do that to me,” I pleaded.

Journey backed away, her hands still raised in surrender. Grim wasn’t far, standing behind his mate, with both hands on his mate’s shoulders.

“I just put her wolf to sleep, at least, I think that’s what I did.” She wiggled her nose as she gazed at Delilah. “I did what the Moon Goddess told me to do. Selene wants her wolf to rest before she forces her to shift. Her wolf is suffering from PTSD, but Delilah’s body needs to shift.”

The room muttered amongst themselves.

Anaki and Bones stood behind the couch. Out of all the brothers here, Delilah was closest to them. Anaki was gripping the couch cushions with his claws, the stuffing almost pouring from the brand new couch. He tried to touch Delilah, but I pulled her away.

Delilah snorted, her body too weak. Her broken arm slapped my shoulder, and she screamed in agony.

“I’m okay,” she whispered to Anaki.

Anaki shook his head. His hair was a mess. I knew I was being a bastard, but fuck she was hurting, and she was mine. I had to take care of her the best way I could and that was not by having some other male intervene. It’s not like anyone could do anything for her besides Journey.

I growled at him again.

“I know man, I’m sorry.” Anaki backed away, holding his hands up. “As long as you let me dance with her later.”

Delilah smiled, nodding her head.

I think fucking not.

Bones examined my mate’s protruding bone but dared not to touch it, for both my sake and Delilah’s. It was trying to heal, the shards rounding, bending inwards, only to revert back to its previous broken form.. He ached to examine it further, but at least he was smart about what the mating bond could cause.

“There isn’t much I can do,” he muttered to Delilah. “We can just make you comfortable. If I try and push it back together, it’s going to break again, you’re in the middle of a shift. Its best to leave it alone.” Bones nodded to Delilah, and I held onto her a little tighter.

But, they all loved her, not as much as me. They cared for her. Saw her as family. Just like Journey. I couldn’t tell them to just leave.

“There is a reason your wolf doesn’t want to shift,” Journey whispered to the both of us.

Journey and I looked at each other.

“It involves the both of you, of your past lives. With each other.”

Delilah’s lips parted.

“It isn’t a happy ending, your past life. And if you want everyone to leave, so I can share it with you both alone, we can do that.” Journey reached out to Delilah’s hand, taking it softly in hers. She rubbed it tenderly.

Immediately, Delilah shook her head.

“I’m okay to share it with everyone,” Delilah said. “I think I would want to share it with my whole family.” She sniffed, looking around the room. “If that is okay with you, Hawke?”

She rolled her head backwards, her big blue eyes staring up at me so innocently like she hadn’t pulled a heart out of her ex-husband’s chest earlier.

I blew a puff of air out of my lips, blowing away the hair from her forehead.

“Why are you so okay with sharing something that might be so sad?”I asked.

“Because I know what happened. You saw me lying dead on the floor in that cabin,”she whispered. “That’s why you snapped earlier. Why you wouldn’t let me leave with Shane.”
