The chase made our heart leap for joy, the animalistic part of ourselves screaming to be released. Overcome with anger, Tyr rushed forward and with both of his front paws, he pushed the two men down onto their stomachs. Instead of burying our teeth into the back of their necks, he let the humans squirm. Their nails sank into the dirt, digging, pulling into the stones until their nails were ripped from their fingers.
They tried to get away from the magnificent beast that stood atop of their bodies, but to no avail.
They were nothing to the wolf.
They were weak fools who took orders from a male that harmed the innocent. They all knew what Shane did to Delilah, and… They. Let. Him.
Tyr curled our claws deep into their backs.
And they would all pay.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Delilah

I snapped them together with a satisfying click. They were black as onyx and hard as stone. They shimmered in the light and not a flicker of a scratch shone on them from climbing the tree. Claw marks showed brightly against the bark; it couldn’t be helped. It was my first time climbing a tree with no branches close to the base.
“You will get better,”the voice assured me. “We’ll practice more back home.”
Home.
If we ever got there.
The pit in my stomach was a raging inferno of butterflies trying to escape. Staying in this tree was only making them worse. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of peach fuzz that was spreading out over my body at the moment.
“I guess that laser hair removal was a complete waste,” I muttered, rubbing the hair down my legs as it continued to grow. “Be helpful if you would just let me shift, and I could help him.”
She giggled in my head.
“Go on, just hurry and admit it.” I petted the fur on my arms.
This time, instead of hearing silence, my world went black, and I saw a head appear from the darkness. A blonde wolf tilted her head and winked long, beckoning eyelashes. Then the world all came back to light, and I leaned on the branch to regain my balance.
“What was that?” I whispered.
“Well, you seem to know it all. What do you think?”she asked.
“You are my wolf?”
“Delilah! Where are you?” Hawke called out sharply, demanding my attention.
My breath hitched, and I moved my head in his direction. I knew exactly where to turn, like intuition, where to look.
Hawke had transformed into his wolf and was standing tall, facing the other side of the open clearing. There was a swarm of men in suits that were holding guns, marching toward the forest, fanning out to delve deeper into the woods.
They looked familiar and as I took deep breaths, narrowing my eyes, I realized who they were in an instant. Shane’s men. The guards I’d known for years who’d watched me as I grew, as well as some new men sprinkled in.
My hands shook as I grasped the branches, my heart pounding in my chest.
Shane had managed to track us down, and there was a high chance that he was in the cabin with Bram.
With Hawke and Tyr looming on the other side of the clearing, heading into the woods, which meant he was going to take down all of Shane’s security. But what of Bram?
He would be left alone with a psychopath.
“Answer him already, be calm,” my wolf spoke. “Be calm when you answer.”
