“Hello.” I waved awkwardly.
“Certainly, a pleasure, your Maj—Ma’am.” Strom replied and quickly tended to the motor.
Alright then.
Teritis grabbed our bags and put them away. Cy laced our fingers together and pulled me to the front of the boat, and I heard the gentle purr of the motor. I tried to force my concentration on Cy, but those men didn’t look normal.
They looked, well, aquatic. I couldn’t put my finger on it. I think it was their eyes, which looked so similar to Cy’s at times.
Maybe they all fell into some chemical goo that changed their eye appearance? That was why they had to keep things so concealed, and Cy couldn’t tell me anything. Some sort of government cover up.
No wonder he’s so stressed out.
“You’re going to like this place,” Cy said, his hair floating on the sea breeze. “You may even find some creatures you never thought could exist.”
“Really?” I gasped. “Like what you see where you work?” He nodded, and my excitement was evident in my high-pitched squeal.
Cy had something amazing to show me, but I also had something amazing to show him, too. I grinned wickedly while his back was turned.
The brothers behind us snorted, making kissing noises. Cy pulled me closer to him, his arm wrapping around my shoulders. It was the first time he’d made such an effort to touch me, holding me close.
“Yes, I just hope with what I want to show you, the attendants are not dead by the time we get there,” Cy said.

Ishouldhavemadethose cretins swear they wouldn’t speak or do anything to ruin this. But Teritris and Strom were my best sailors, and I knew nothing about this boat. I was so worried about making this date memorable, that I forgot to worry about what they could do to embarrass me.
The creatures of the ocean knew who Lani was, now. The rumor spread across the tides quickly after I summoned the crab sentinels to watch over her. Now the sea was becoming infatuated and curious about their future queen.
Silas did his best to spread the word for the sea life to act normal while I took her to the diving spot. Of course, I would have to remind them, I’d always been too lenient of a god to strike fear into them. Now that Lani was at my side, however, I would do anything to protect her and keep the secret just a little longer.
I stayed up all night, just holding her. Listening to her heart and feeling her breath fanning my chest. I didn’t want to sleep, afraid I wouldn’t be able to hold her the next night.
In human culture, I crossed a line. I didn’t ask to sleep in her bed, I just did so. But in the supernatural and god realms, it was completely acceptable. She was my mate, she would eventually be mine. So, there were no rules.
Or so I hoped.
I would still give Lani the choice once she found out who I was and telling her sooner rather than later was imperative.
“We are going pretty far out,” Lani said as the waves splashed against the boat, the roar of the engines propelling us further and further.
I wanted to take her far from shore and away from all humans for what I had in store for her. We couldn’t have nosy humans getting in the way of this.
“Yes, I’ve researched the area,” I yelled over the engine. “We will find a lot of undisturbed wildlife.”
The boat pushed against the wind. Her hair flew in my face, and she laughed as she pulled the hair band from her wrist to contain her locks. When she did, I had the perfect view of her slender, tanned neck.
Lani had a stunning body, but what I loved most was not just her breasts or her rear, but the appreciation of her neck. It held her head high. Her confidence was the most erotic thing about her. She wasn’t shy when she removed her sarong from her wide hips to display a beautiful body during our days at the beach.
The first day I choked on my spit the first time I saw her in a suit. She was gorgeous. No other creature could hold a candle to her, either on land or in the depths of the sea.
I wrapped my arms around her, trying to remember what Aphrodite had taught me. Touch, affection, to have a man showing his woman he cared for her was key. I hoped I was doing it right, and she was noticing.
After an hour and a half, we stopped in the middle of the ocean. The island could hardly be seen, and no ships were around us for miles. What I had for her would excite her to no end, and I was ready to get her off the boat and into the ocean.
I stood, nodding to my sirens to let down the anchor. They both complied, their demeanor humbler than it was before we left. A stern scolding through our link had them rushing through their chores and preparing for their queen to enter the water.
