I wanted to be the only person she looked upon, especially with that smile, full of curiosity and awe as she stared upon the wonders of the main floor of the palace.

I rarely walked among these halls; it was all for formalities. The dining room, the throne room, the sitting room, the libraries and such were all for the eyes of visitors who I rarely had. No, my main quarters, besides my bedroom, was the basement, where all the creatures she would soon meet resided.

What would she say when she saw those beasts? The ones that do not walk on human legs, but rather with arachnid legs, or maybe snake like with no legs at all? They could hold conversations even when their appearances made you think otherwise.

She took to Silas just fine.

But even Lucifer, Loki, and Uriel had trouble stomaching some of those creatures in the beginning.

Bare-footed, we stepped into the dining hall, feeling the warmth of the marble beneath us. She was in awe of the extended table in the center of the room. It could fit at least fifty people. Each seat had a place setting, but most were currently unoccupied. I wanted her to see that we could have parties if she wished, and she’d be able to invite Koma and Candice.

There would have to be rules set in place for Candice. She was not technically blood or mated to another. But I was willing to break the gods’ rules and give my mate what she needed. There would be time to go over that later.

Koma on the other hand, she had a deep and profound love for him. All in the brotherly sense, of course, and I believed the Fates already had something prepared for him. Even though I had not met her brother, it was clear they were both spirit siblings. With as much love as she radiated when speaking of him, raising him like her own child for many years was enough for me to see it.

The Fates would certainly agree as well.

Now, I wanted to show her how her life beneath the sea would be. She would never have to work again. She would get to explore all the depths along with me, create new creatures, and maybe start a family.

My cock stirred beneath my skirt. To be sunk into the warmth of her tight cavern, to have it sheath the ache between my legs, would be the most rewarding. I hoped that she understood I was a fast learner. Her arousal when I pinned her hands above the bed seemed to be an excellent indicator.

She liked to be restrained; she liked it when I was dominant as well and took control. With time, I could be that for her.

Adjusting myself beneath my knee-length wrap, I led her to the table. Lucifer, Uriel, and Loki were already speaking amongst themselves, Uriel laughing at something Loki said. Lani said nothing as I sat her beside me at the head of the table. The width of the table was so large that my queen could sit beside me and not to the side.

We could share the responsibility of ruling all the seas, making us both equal co-rulers.

She glanced down at the table, her eyes widening at the intricate designs of the plates, bowls, and pearl and scale covered utensils. They were abundant, along with the three glasses made of colored sand that could hold her wine, water, and after dinner coffees.

None of the overly elaborate decorations that adorned the table, the giant candelabras dangling with jewels, the overly zealous servants that stood behind every third chair appealed to me. The brightly colored tapestries that hung over every window and the enormous amount of food was all but a show. In fact, it was quite possible this was the first time any of these decorations had ever been used. But after extensive research on my own by watching movies, commercials, and phone calls to Aphrodite, women wanted to feel special.

Did she feel special with all these things?

Because if my reading of her face was correct, she didn’t look at all impressed. Her face was pale, her fingers only touching the silk tablecloth in front of her. Lani’s fingers shook as she did so, and my overwhelming urge to pluck her from her seat and set her on my lap was too strong to ignore.

So, I did.

I pulled her from her seat. She squeaked, but none of my guests thought this was weird or strange because Lucifer often did it to Uriel when she was stuck in her own little head space.

“Are you alright? My Flower?” I whispered in her ear.

Blushing profusely, Lani brought her hands up to hide her face from view. “I’m so sorry,” she muttered. “I was just feeling so overwhelmed.”

I pursed my lips and gazed at the table. Maybe it was a bit much.

The chandelier above the table was a clear yellow tinted octopus that held candles in each tentacle. It was one of the first creatures that roamed the earth’s oceans. It was a replica of when it was a baby, but now it lived at the bottom of the deepest trench of earth. The creature was easily a hundred times the size of the enormous chandelier. That chandelier I wouldn’t give up, but I could easily get rid of the nonsense on the table.

“Clear the table.” I acknowledged Silas’s presence in the corner by giving him a slight nod. He instructed the servants to take the decorations, the candelabras, the flowers, the extra plates away, except for the five seats and their place settings of two plates, a bowl, and our utensils.

Lani sighed audibly and relaxed in my arms. “You didn’t have to do that.” She gazed up at me. “I was just worried about which fork to use.”

I felt my hair sway as I shook my head.

“Thank god, I could barely see my plate,” Loki laughed. “I was scared something was gonna pop out of those bushes you had on the table. Maybe another peckerfish or worse yet, a vagina fish. Fates know we don’t need to have one of those. The smell alone might clear a room.”

Uriel directed an angry and menacing glance toward Loki. “Language.”

“Yes, the floral decor was extravagant,” I muttered, playing with my beard. I instantly regretted the decision to be “extra” as Ares put it. But I thought Lani might appreciate it. Show her I could take care of her. I wanted to show her the best I had, but Lani was different.
