“Yes, woo,” she said plainly. “The act of winning her over, show your affection toward her. You know, all the romance! Have you done anything of the sort?”

“I think she likes me already. We kissed earlier,” I said.

Aphrodite shook her head. “She may have just been horny or ovulating. Maybe both, but you have to show some interest, too. I know you have a hard time relating to people and understanding their intentions sometimes, but showing it is going to really help you. She’s a sweet girl and a little can go a long way.”

I nodded and willed my notebook from my room. Aphrodite gave excellent advice—from buying flowers, holding my mate’s hand—which I was excellent at—holding the door open for her, doing deeds she could do on her own, but doing it for her instead.

Complementing her was a big one. Women loved to be complimented, anything that would make them feel good about themselves. I needed to compliment her on her hair, her clothes, her face, her smile. It was a lot, and my notebook was filled with Aphrodite’s rules of how to get her to bed.

But I wasn’t trying to just get her in bed. I wanted her to know I cared for her. She obviously cared for me, she was thoughtful in every action she made toward me. She had continued to pursue me even when I was still too afraid.

“Now, I saw that kiss.” Aphrodite waved her hand in front of her. “And let me tell you, that was a bold move for her. Best thing is, she showed you how to do it.” Aphrodite smiled and fluttered her lashes. “Makes me want to find someone that’s a bit shy so I can show them how to do things, too.”

Zeus rolled his eyes and leaned over to whisper to me. “You roll your eyes when someone is full of shit.”

“She’s constipated?” I asked.

Zeus snorted. “No, brother. I mean, she would not like it if a male didn’t know how to make her orgasm.”

I nodded my head. Yes, that was true. So, I rolled my eyes as well.

Aphrodite shook her head, leaning back on the couch. “And that is the advice that I have for you, Poseidon. You are smart; you know how to use that big brain of yours, so use it. Think of her when you go for those dives she likes so much. How can you make them better?”

I smoothed my hands together, then my legs and face. If Lani could stay under the water longer, she would enjoy the sea more. I could show her more, take her around the island, maybe have a siren come out and greet us. She would be over the moon for that.

“I could help her breathe under the water,” I blurted.

Aphrodite winked. “Now you are gettin’ it. Like I said, use your brain. It isn’t all about sex.”

“But–” I felt the heat of my face rising, the sweat perspiring on my hairline. Zeus grabbed my shoulder, shaking it.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I just, what if we do more than kissing? I will be honest; I am not practiced in any of that.” That was an understatement. I had been intimate with two people, once with Aphrodite—and that went horribly wrong—and a random siren. Yeah, that was so bad I made her forget, too.

I groaned, falling back onto the couch.

“He is certainly adorable when he gets all flushed like that, isn’t he?” Aphrodite giggled.

“Yeah, I think that is why Lani likes him so much. She’s a dominant woman,” Zeus replied.

Aphrodite rose and came around the coffee table and sat beside me. I covered my face with my hands, and she gently pulled them away. I didn’t flinch, and Zeus rubbed my shoulder for encouragement.

“You are doing great,” Zeus said.

And it was heartfelt. I could feel my brother beside me, radiating a pride I had never felt before. He was truly helping me, and it wasn’t just to curry favor with the other gods. I felt his empathy.

“Yes, you are, Poseidon. You are doing just fine. She is your mate. She will never abandon you; her commitment is unwavering. The way her eyes sparkled when she kissed you, I could see the love there.

“Love?” I asked, shocked.

Aphrodite nodded. “You do not need any advice about how to handle her or how to make her feel good. She controlled that kiss; she will tell you how to move your sea serpent in her kitty.”

I groaned, hiding my face again.

“No, but seriously, this match is perfect for you. I commend Ember for how perfectly it’s going.” Aphrodite’s eyes softened, her breath catching in her throat. “I hope I have that same chance one day.”

Zeus nodded in agreement and before I could stand up to leave the room, the sliding glass door to the porch opened. The rain had long ago stopped, but when our guest stepped into the room, he was soaking wet.
