It was beautiful, watching the ones that were bonded in the room. But then there were the few, with envious and longing glances that watched those with mates by their sides.

I just wish Candice was here, celebrating with Poseidon and me. It felt empty without her, along with Koma.

I twirled the glass of water in my hand.Where was Koma?

“Don’t worry about your friend,” Athena nudged me. “Haven’t you noticed Aphrodite, Dionysus, and Eros aren’t here?”

First of all, no because damn there is a lot of you. But I guess Zeus stands out the most.

“He doesn’t count,” she sighed, reading my thoughts. “Zeus is searching for his mate. It will take him time. He isn’t the brightest star in the sky. Candice is well taken care of, however. And when she wakes, she will know you are withCyandare happy and healthy after your elopement.”

I blushed, and Poseidon dropped his head into my lap and wrapped his arms around my waist. His face nuzzled into my stomach as he hummed. “So pretty…” he slurred. “My Little Flower.”

“My Little Poseidon,” I cooed, brushing back his hair.

Despite being the center of attention, I continued petting his hair, smiling at my new extended family.

The knock at the door broke me out of my thoughts, and it made everyone in the room pause. No one had been knocking to get into my house. The gods don’t knock; they just appear.

“Who is that?” I muttered as we all stared at the front door.

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Poseidon

Istirredfrommysleep in Lani's lap and was met with the gentle scent of her natural perfume. The sweet drink didn’t last long, it was made from human alcohol, and that was most likely why Athena had given it to me. Though I was still completely aware of my surroundings, I felt like I was in a dream-like state, almost as if I was floating on a cloud.

The door banged again, and I scrambled to my feet, my heart thudding in my chest. The gods in the room stared at the door closely, frozen in their spots. My fist came to my lips, and I cleared my throat, to gain everyone’s attention.

I still didn’t like the eyes on me; I didn’t like all of them staring, especially all at once, but I had to put on a brave front.

Lani stood up behind me and lightly touched my hand, and I could feel the love radiating from her. I smiled, kissing her, and found the courage that I needed to speak.

“No one needs to change,” I smirked, and Lani’s hand gripped tighter in mine.

I’d planned this for days. I’d kept this secret since she fell asleep, and I would not ruin it now. I pulled Lani’s hand to my lips, placed a chaste kiss, and let it gently drop to her side. The gods all held their glasses and food while they watched me stride to the door.

They were in on it too, except for Uriel. She could not keep a secret if her life depended on it. Uriel had arrived quickly after I had bonded with Lani. Her power had grown and sensed that my once troubling soul no longer needed of her services.

Now I had Lani, and her presence was like a soothing balm on my anxieties.

Uriel bounced on her toes, her hands clapping excitedly. “Who is it? Luci, do you know?” Lucifer shook his head, pulling her closer as I put my hand on the door.

I glanced back at Lani, the gods now smiling, knowing that this knock was from someone important. Despite this being his home, I requested he knock, adding more theatrics to Lani’s surprise.

As I opened the door, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the house as a large man stepped inside. His shoulders would barely pass through a human doorway, but now with the much larger door to let the gods pass through, it dwarfed his size.

His skin had a warm, rich hue, much darker than Lani’s. His hair was cut shorter than most of the native Hawaiians. It was short because of his training he mentioned when we were on the phone. The southern humid part of the United States was brutal on his hair, causing it to be out of control.

Lani gasped, her body leaning on Athena. Athena erupted into laughter and gave a playful push, causing Lani to lunge in her brother's direction. Lani cried, her tears running down her cheeks as she embraced the spirit brother she had taken care of for years.

It took little persuading to let Koma know that Lani was alright when Hermes found them at the airport. Hermes brought them back here, where I was able to explain in more detail what was happening to his sister.

It was a rather easy feat and went over better than I expected, because Koma already knew all about the gods and supernaturals before I even spoke with him.

Koma found his mate, a she-wolf close to his college campus. While he was running laps around the permitter of his school, his mate found a scent so alluring she broke through the boundaries of her small pack to find him.

Koma, who had very little interaction with females as he grew up because of Lani’s excessive hovering, knew little of the female anatomy. His mate taught him, however, she was thirty years his senior, but that didn’t bother the couple at all.
