I wiped Lani’s body clean as my power worked on our home. No sweat remained on her body as I wiped every inch with my hand. I left my seed inside her, continuing to take brief breaks to admire my work. My cock already ached to take her again. I wanted to ravage her, bury myself so deep that I would no longer waste the seed dripping from my body.

But I refrained from it. I would not take her without verbal consent.

Lani wouldn’t appreciate it if I took her while sleeping, or maybe she would?

What would she think if I took her body and used it? It wouldn’t be just for my pleasure, but for her own as well. A goddess deserves to be woken with an orgasm, screams of pleasure leaving her lips.

I bit my cheek, holding back a groan as I dressed her in the finest materials. It was a pale yellow to complement the mark on her chest. Her tan skin was a stark contrast to the silk material that hung around her body.

I placed a crown created from pearls and sea glass and covered with plumeria flowers on my mate’s head.

I waited for our guests to arrive. I smiled, watching her sleep, the twitch of her lip curling into a smile as I brushed my lips across hers.

I caressed her body, my hand running over her stomach. I paused, leaning my ear to her stomach. Could she be with child?

I rubbed her hip tenderly as I listened, finding no heartbeat. I tsked, knowing it couldn’t be so. Why would it be? She had a hormone in her body that was preventing her pregnancy, that much I knew. By the time she was a goddess, however, that hormone would leave her body, and it was up to us both to decide if we wanted a child.

A child.

A perfect son or daughter.

I ached to crawl into the bed, to hold her until she awoke, but there were duties to be taken care of. When she wakes, I wanted all tension and all punishment to the gods that had dared take my mate from me to be finished.

I wanted Lani to wake up to peace, because she would have trouble understanding her new role as a goddess. She wouldn’t be able to live amongst the humans anymore. Especially now that she would be a goddess learning to wield her power.

Someone knocked on the front door, now painted in pearlescent white. The noise echoed into the now larger living room. I expanded the room, so it was larger on the inside, however from the outside, it was the same size to the human eye. Lani mentioned she wanted a bigger living room, and now it was.

I stepped into the room and felt the softness of the lush rug beneath my feet and heard the creak of the floorboard as I sat down on the enormous pillows. The smell of ambrosia tea from the low table beckoned me. Trays of her favorite foods and flowers of all kinds from the island were scattered about in vases. The kitchen, that originally doubled as the living room as well, was now a chef’s paradise.

One chef from the palace, Oranew, another kraken, prepared enough food to last us for days. He would join us when the food needed to be served so he could return to the sea and take on his original form.

“I’ll get it, my Lord,” Silas bowed. He stumbled forward, his legs still unsteady, and reached for the door handle.

I ran my fingertips along the fabric of my robes, smoothing out any wrinkles, and adjusted the crown on my head, feeling the weight of it. It was time to show them all how serious this was even though I was as nervous as a newborn guppy.

But they wouldn’t see it. I would bury my nervousness beneath a veil of rage.

Sitting down, I grabbed a grape and cradled it in my hand while I sank into the piles of pillows. Once the door opened, I didn’t look up, too angry to look them in the eye.

These were my friends. These gods, at least Zeus, were supposed to be trustworthy. And they had failed me, yet again.

I pinched the grape I was holding, my teeth grinding in anger. I didn’t want them near Lani, especially in her vulnerable state. Anyone that dared to enter that room would have to go through my trident, but it still irritated me.

They didn’t deserve to be in the same building as her. They didn’t deserve my mercy either. The only reason they were here was because I would not leave her. I would not let her be taken from me again.

I huffed in annoyance as Zeus, Hermes, and Candice walked in.

Great, now Candice knows before my mate could explain to her what was happening. How disappointed she would be.

“Holy cow, what did you do to the place?” Candice gazed into the room with a shocked expression. Her head popped in and out of the doorway, her hand waving in front of her face. “This is some wizarding witches crap going on here.”

Zeus chuckled, trying to wrap his hand around Candice’s waist to bring her inside, but she slapped his hand, glaring.

“Don’t touch me,” she snapped and walked into the room in front of Zeus.

Zeus looked at Candice, his eyes filled with longing like she was his sun, and for the first time, it all clicked. Could Candice be…?

“Where’s Lani?” Candice crossed her arms. “I was told I was being brought to Lani, and you are sitting here on your big fluffy pillows. Where is she?” she hissed. “And who are you?”
