I line my sight up with the finger she’s now pointing, following as she scans the crowd slowly…so slowly it’s as if she’s trying to make this last as long as possible. I can’t blame her. Being next to her like this, up close and personal, feelssodamn good. I shift an inch or so closer and catch the hitch in her breathing. I smile smugly.

“There. That’s the best damn table a girl can ask for.”

“That’syour favorite table tonight, huh?”

I feel her nod. “Yep. I’m a lucky gal.”

She’s pointing at a table full of some dudes that are probably in their sixties, all of them sitting around with bored expressions.

“Andwhyis that your favorite?” I push.

“Because…” she starts, searching for some sort of answer because she knows I know she randomly picked that table. I bet it’s not even hers.“Tips! Because tips.”

She sounds so proud of herself right now. It’s adorable.

“You want to know my favorite table?” I ask, taking a chance and shifting behind her more. “It’s real special.”

She bobs her head up and down.

“You see that table?”

I feel her laugh lightly. “You need to be a little more specific.”

Very cute, Rae.

Reaching down, I place my hand over hers. I gently lift our arms and slide my hand down hers until I can extend her pointer finger. Then I match my arm over hers, lining our fingers up until we’re pointing directly at my table.

“There,” I whisper, my lips brushing her ear. Her heart is racing so fast and I can’t help but smile.I feel it too, Rae.Being this close to her is doing things to me I can’t begin to explain. Little beads of sweat are starting to form on my hairline and my mouth has gone almost completely dry. “That’s the best damn table a guy can ask for.”

“Yeah? Why is that?” she asks, her voice unsteady and thick. I lick my lips and swallow the lump that has formed in my throat.Fuck. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to get so close to her.

“Because…” I tease. “It’s lucky enough to have the best-looking dude in the whole place sitting there tonight. Whoever gets the opportunity to serve him is very blessed.”

She laughs and steps away from me, turning back to the bar and grabbing her tray of drinks. “You’re right. She’s a lucky gal. Tucker is pretty hot.”

“The sass that comes out of your mouth…”

“I know.” She winks before rushing away to drop off her drinks.

I watch as she walks away, a smile stretched across my face the entire time.

I hear a throat being cleared next to me and turn to find a huge-ass bouncer-looking dude shooting daggers at me from behind the bar. He’s scary-looking as shit. He glances over at Rae and then back at me, the look on his face lethal in a silent I-will-kill-you-if-you-hurt-her sort of way. Honestly, I respect that.

I give him a nod, acknowledging the promise.

“Yo, did you fall in or what?” Tanner asks when I get back to the table.

I ignore him. “You guys wanna come over for a card game, pizza, and beer this weekend?”

“Joey not gonna be around?” Tucker asks.

“Nah, sleepover at Charlie’s.”

“Damn. Joey’s fun, man.” I just laugh and shake my head because he’s right. Joey is fun, probably the best kid ever. She’s always running around doing and saying crazy stuff. I get a good laugh out of it all. “Well I guess I’m still in then.”

“Yeah, I’ll be there. I don’t have anything going on this weekend for a change so it’ll be nice to relax a bit,” Gaige says.

“Wait, what day? I kind of agreed to a double date when you were in the bathroom.” I look at Tucker like he’s on crack. “What? Tanner got that other hot waitress to go out with him on one condition: double date.”
