Even though he’d come home for good now and things were like they used to be, apparently I could still get insecure.

I texted him again.

“Jas, you’re gonna be late for your Legs, Bums and Tums class,” Melanie said as she skipped into the break room, high blond ponytail swinging.

“Crap.” I’d wasted my whole break sitting around and brooding. “Thanks, Mel.” I leapt up, stuffed my phone in my shorts pocket, and rushed off to the studio.

“You’re a dick,”I said to Adam three hours later when he finally deigned to answer the phone. “You know I hate being left on read, Adam.”

He sighed. “Shit, I forgot. I don’t mean I forgot you hate it, I know you do. I meant I forgot you texted. It’s been a crazy day. Two people quit, the new guy decided that working in a hotel isn’t his true calling or whatever and never even bothered to show up, someone broke the wifi, and my boss cried on me.”

“Oh. Sounds like a shitty day.”

“Yeah. Still, I’m sorry. I wasn’t deliberately ignoring you.”

“Cool,” I said. “Okay, lemme grab a pen.” I cut across my sitting room and into the kitchen to snag the pen and notepad I kept by the kettle. I tended to haveideaswhile waiting for it to boil. “Go,” I said.

“Go where?”

“Gimme Liam’s number!”

Adam hummed.

I straightened. “Are you serious?”

“I just don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“You made your opinion on the matter clear enough at the pub, thanks.”

“Why do you need his number, anyway?” Adam said.

“I want to send him a dick pic, why do you think?” I snapped.

“Oh my god,don’t.”

“Oh my god, I wasjoking.”

Although….?

Maybe Liam would be into that?

I palmed myself thoughtfully, and filed that one away for later.

“Adam, give me his number, for fuck’s sake.”

“Promise you won’t send him a dick pic.”

“No.”

Adam sighed. “Okay. Please don’t get hurt, Jasper. Just because he’s divorced and living back in Chipping Fairford, it doesn’t mean anything’s changed.”

Boy was he wrong about that. Everything had changed.Everythinghad—wait. “He lives here?”
