“Yeah.”

“Which one?”

There was a beat of silence before I felt his chest press against my back as he shifted. Fingers brushed lightly over my closed eyes. “Sweetheart, why are your eyes closed?”

“I’m embarrassed.”

His chest rose and fell beneath me, and he ran his hands up and down my thighs. I loved the way he couldn’t seem to stop touching me. “Good embarrassed or bad embarrassed?” he said.

“I don’t know.”

“Can I finish reading?”

I nodded.

“Do you want to know which one it is?”

I shook my head and hunched a little against him. I was very conflicted. Excited, but conflicted.

He wrapped an arm around my chest and held me tight. “Do you want to go upstairs and wait for me while I finish?”

“God, yes,” I said.

“You’re leaving me with your computer unprotected, and I need to check you’re okay with that as well, because you clearly take your privacy very seriously.”

“I trust you.”

He helped me up off his lap, turned me by the hips, and held me there between his legs for a moment, gazing up at me. His eyes were as dark as I’d ever seen them, the pupils so large only a sliver of the usual pale colour showed. He palmed the backs of my thighs. “I won’t be long,” he said gruffly. “Kiss me first.”

Feeling shy, I bent down and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.

Liam’s hard face softened when I pulled away and he went to say something, but shook his head with a smile instead.“I’ll be up in a minute.”

Once again I found myself facedown on my bed, panting into the duvet as I waited for Liam to join me.

Last time, it had been a rush of frantic uncertainty, a desperate grasp to finallyfeelsomething with him, and nothing was on the table beyond the present moment.

This time, it was a beginning.

I pushed down into the mattress, enjoying the friction against my aching cock and the drag of crisp cotton over my sensitised pecs and nipples, but I held myself back. I was on the edge as it was.

My pulse had finally started to slow to normal levels when I heard his tread on the bottom stair.

I was still facedown. I quickly flipped over and spread myself over the dark blue duvet as invitingly as I knew how. Legs wide, arms too…no, that was stupid.

I tucked my arms behind my head, pulled my legs up and let them fall open to the sides…okay, ahintof subtlety, Jasper, come on.

I left my arms where they were, stretched my legs flat and crossed my ankles. No, that was too relaxed. That said,I’m enjoying the holiday sun on a week in Tenerife.I was going for,Please ravish me at once.

I propped up on my elbows…nope.

This was awful.

I’d never been so awkwardly aware of my body.

Go with a classic, I thought. I flipped over and scrambled up onto all fours. Who doesn’t like this one? I dipped my back low to really make my arse pop.
