Page 107 of Not That Complicated

No, wait. That was still the door.

“Hang on a sec.” I turned in his arms, opened the door, and all but yelled, “Yes, WHAT?” at Fraser.

Fraser was red, eyes sparking angrily, and he glared at Adam over my shoulder. I risked a glance behind me. Adam was glaring back.

He also had an arm around me and one hand resting low on my stomach. I grabbed it to prevent it going further south. I had a fair idea what was going on with him, even though it made no sense at all, but I wasn’t keen to have him handle my junk in public to make his point. On the doorstep. With people watching.

“Very classy, Ray,” Fraser sneered.

“Thanks,” I said. “Was that all? It was? Great. Goodbye.” I went to close the door.

“Wait,” Fraser said. He ruffled a hand through the back of his hair and dropped his arm to his side. “Let’s start again.”

“I’d rather not,” I said. “If you’d like to remove yourself from my property, that’d be great.”

“Well,” he said with a short laugh, and a flick of his eyes to the left. “Kinda mine, too.”

I flat-out gaped at him. Kinda his? How did he come to that batshit conclusion?

Adam made a small sound behind me. Like a cross-between anahaand a grunt of satisfaction. The tension in his body didn’t go away, but it definitely eased.

“We can all talk inside,” Fraser said, already stepping forward.

Adam’s long arm came over my shoulder and stopped Fraser in his tracks.

“Who’s we?” I said.

Fraser gave a short laugh. “Ray, we’ve been over this. Come on.”

“I haven’t spoken to you in over a year! I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Okay, very funny. I’ve been texting you. I called you. Left voicemails?”

“I know. I don’t know what about, though. I blocked your number.”

Adam snorted with amusement.

Fraser had the audacity to look indignant. “You blocked my member?”

“Uh...yes? “

“Why would you do that?”

I said slowly, “You cheated on me with an unknown amount of men the whole time we were together, and when I threw you out, you moved to Wantage. I assumed that meant we were done?”

Fraser flushed. “And now you’re the one sleeping with Adam. What is that about, anyway, some kind of revenge?”

I laughed. “You know, the fact Adam was stupid enough to sleep with you in the first place was a big old mark in the con column.Ow.”

Adam had pinched my belly fat. I sucked in my gut and twisted my neck to scowl up at him.

“You had a pro-con list?” he said, a smile flirting over his mouth.

“....maybe.”

“I’m going to need to see that list.”

“Ha ha, no.” Never.
