Page 93 of Finding Secrets

I tug her reluctant body across the muddy floor of the woods, having to pick her up a few times as she slides, barefoot and soaking wet.

I don’t have time to stop. We have to get to the road where my bike is. We have to get as far away before they realize Kam had gotten her out of there.

We break through the trees, the back road coming into view, and my baby is still sitting there waiting for me.

My bike is my pride and joy.

“W-We—” She gulped down a breath beside me. “We have to go back!”

“There is no going back. We have to go,” I say, annoyed at her ignorance of the whole situation.

“They will hurt him. Samuel will—”

“No one will hurt Kameron. They won’t know.” I tug her arm, swinging her to face me. I slam her against the nearest tree. “If we go back, thenhis cover will be blown. Do you get that?”

Her chest heaves as she looks up at me, eyelids fluttering as the rain falls over her face.

I try not to look down at her wet body, but it’s growing extremely hard to ignore when her nipples are hardening. The thin fabric of her dress clings to her perfect fucking body.

Her nostrils flare as she not only takes in my words but sees me raking my eyes over her. It’s obvious why Kameron is infatuated with her. Even sopping wet and angry, she is breathtakingly beautiful.

But beautiful or not, she is getting on my last fucking nerve.

“We can’t just leave him.” She pushes her arms against me, but I don’t move an inch.

“We can. We have to. He will get out when he knows it’s safe.” I spin and walk to my bike. After grabbing the spare helmet, I place it on her head, press the headset button, and place my own helmet to connect them to each other. “Kam wants you safe. So, get on the bike, Elliott.”

I can’t see her eyes through the visor, but I can hear her heavy breaths.

Just when I think she is going to finally fucking listen, she tries to bolt for it. I wrap my arms around her waist before she can make it very far and haul her over and slam her ass on the bike.

“You want to be the reason he gets hurt!?” I grab her helmet with both hands. “This isn’t a game, princess.” Idon’t need to see her to know she is pissed off at me. “Now, stay on this fucking bike. This is what Kameron wanted.”

I swing around, typing a message to Hunter before I start the bike.

She is safe. On our way.

Hunter: Good. Be careful.

I roll my eyes at his reply as I start the bike. Grabbing Elliott’s arms, I wrap them around my waist. The minute I let go, she recoils her arms back to herself, crossing them firmly around her chest.

“Your funeral, princess.”

I take off on the road away from the outside borders of Everton.

She flies forward, grabbing me with such a strong grip.

Her low sob through the speaker makes my heart ache.

It’s the same pain I feel leaving Kameron with that fucked-up town. I place my hand on hers as we take off to join Hunter at the safe house.

I am not going to stop until we get there.

Not until my promise to Kameron is complete.

Not until she is safe.
