She crumbles under my touch.
Just before I’m about to slip my thumb under the lace, we’re both quickly brought back down to earth by a loud banging on my office door.
Motherfucker.
I throw my head back to the ceiling, grinding my teeth. These motherfuckers have the worst timing.
I step back, giving her space while she adjusts her skirt back into place. I reach for her coffee, watching her bite on her full lower lip as she tries to fix her hair. She’s nervous, and it’s out of character for her. Our fingers graze when she takes it, sparking something back to life inside me. Her eyes sparkle as she looks at me. I’ve justhad my hand up her skirt, but somehow, feeling her light touch on my fingers makes me want her even more.
This woman has all the control she could ever need over me and has no fucking clue.
“You good?” I ask her quietly. I need her confirmation before I go and open us up to the outside world.
She nods her approval.
“You sure? I need your words.” I study her face. I’m not about to open up the door if she's not ready.
She takes a sip of her coffee, and I want so badly to taste her lips.
“Yeah, Jay. Promise… I’m good.” A small smile flashes on her lips.
She takes a seat, and I reach down to hide my half-hard dick before I open the door.
Ellie
You’d never know he just had his hands all over me by the way he so casually opens the door.
“All set up just as you requested, Boss.” I hear a deep voice say, but I can’t see his face with the door blocking him.
“Perfect, Trey. Thanks, man.”
Then I see a head dip around the doorframe, and I already know what he’s searching for. When his eyes land on me, his face lights up like he’s just discovered the world’s biggest secret.
I smile and offer a polite but awkward wave.
He tips his chin to me before turning to Jaydon. “Ahh, I thought so.”
Jaydon pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. “Get the fuck outta here, man, if you wanna keep your job.”
They both lose their composure to laughter, and Jaydon shoos him out, shutting the door behind him.
He eyes me the entire short walk back over to the conference table, then pulls over a rather uncomfortable-looking plastic chair. The tiny smirk on his face causes me to shift in my seat. This entire morning has been awkward as hell. He slides closer to the table, his knee brushing mine in the process.
“So, you guys seem to get along fairly well. They like ruffling your feathers,” I say, breaking the weird tension.
His brief laugh is so sexy. “Trey’s a good guy. I met him years ago when I was training for the SEALS. He was doing some of the cyber shit for a program we worked closelywith.”
I nod along, absorbing as much information as he’s willing to give me. “Hmm, interesting. I never really hear you talk about any of that stuff.”
He shrugs. “There's not much to talk about. We did what we had to do, and then I decided I wanted to go a different route in life. Ryan played a big part in helping me decide to go for it and start my own business. It was a big risk, but I have the right guys helping me, and it's paying off.”
I study his face. He’s so sincere. I don’t think I’ve ever had a normal conversation with him, one where he isn’t trying to get me spun up or messing with my head. I suddenly feel so compelled to show my appreciation for him.
I clasp my hands together in my lap, not sure what else to do with them. “Thanks, Jay.”
His brows pinch together. “For what?” He sits back, propping his elbow up on the table, obviously more comfortable than I am.
My eyes bug out of my head. “For everything you're doing for me, for everything you’ve done for me. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without you. So, thanks.”
