There were so many things Bria wanted to profess but it ultimately wasn’t her place to. Maddy was now being the person who wasn’t taking accountability for her part. Her denial was loud when there had been proof of her betrayal.
“I know this is all a big mess, but I think it’s a blessing that Lo made up with his parents. I love witnessing them rekindle their bond.”
“Not when it’s at the expense of me and his relationship. I did everything for that boy and it’s not right that he threw me away. He can maintain a relationship with them without shutting me out.”
“But Ms. Maddy… never mind. I get it. I know it hurts but Lo had to make a decision, and he unfortunately decided to sever the relationship between you two. I wish it wasn’t that way but yeah.”
“He used to come see me weekly and now I never see him. I want to see my boy. I feel so left out,” she confessed.
Maddy was submerged in complete agony with no lifeguard around to save her. Bria didn’t have a remedy to heal the broken relationship between her and Lo. She had made this bed, which was unfortunate since her bond with Lo had been the ultimate sacrifice.
Bria spun around when she heard a knock at the door. Seeing that it was Cali, she rushed over to it.
“Hey, Ms. Maddy, my sister just walked in. Can I call you back?”
“Sure, you can. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay. Bye.”
Bria hung up and opened the door for Cali.
“Oooh,” Cali cooed, taking in the decor. “This is really nice, sis. I can’t wait for you to open the doors. My ass about to be in here like this.”
Bria cackled when Cali attempted a pirouette and almost fell into the glass window.
“If you don't sit your stiff ass down somewhere,” Bria joked.
Cali chortled, holding her stomach. “I almost blew it. Let me chill out. But for real.” Her laughing came to a cease. “I’m so proud of you. You really did what you said you would.”
Bria looked around, nodding in agreement. “I did. It was hard but I made it.”
Cali gave a tight-lipped smile before sighing.
“Hey.” Bria angled her head. “What’s wrong?”
A deep exhaled released from her mouth. “Girl, it’s a lot. I’m just… caught in some mess.”
“Like what?”
“Well.” She licked her lips. “I fell in love with my sneaky link, and I don't know what to do.”
Bria gasped, causing Cali to cover her face with her hands.
“Girl.”
“I know. It’s a mess,” she whined.
“Uh, yeah,” Bria spat sarcastically. “Cali, you're playing with fire. What about Rio? He’s going to be so hurt. Take it from someone who stepped out on their marriage. It really hurts your spouse and damages the relationship.”
“I know and that’s what has me so fucked up. I love my sneaky link more than Rio and I feel so bad for it.”
“Well, what are you going to do?”
Cali shrugged, expelling a deep breath. “I don't know. I have a decision to make because I can’t be going between two men. It’s just a lot right now.”
“Well, I’m here if you need me. You know that.”
Cali twisted her lips. “Oh, you gon’ help me choose between these niggas?”
