I touch Lana’s cheek. “You’re the best, best friend a girl can have. Thank you for caring about me so much.”
“Well, duh.” She smiles. “It’s been hell, though, and I can’t even tell you how relieved I am. I hope Jason rots in hell.”
There aren’t enough words on how much I agree.
“You look exhausted. Get some sleep,” I tell her.
Tired shadows line underneath Lana’s eyes letting me know just how much shewasin fact worried about me, and I am lucky to have such good friends. “Not going to lie. Sleep sounds amazing. Take care of her, big L.”
“Big L?” Logan raises a brow, and I chuckle beside him.
“Made it up just now and I kind of like it.” Lana giggles, walking inside.
Logan shakes his head. “I’m taking you home.” He gently places a hand on my waist, heat swirling under his touch.
“But I am home.”
Without looking back, Logan guides me to his place, and I don’t protest. How can I? This man literally swooped in like a superhero and saved me from the evil villain. I’d go anywhere with him. And he is taking mehome. His place. He calls itourhome.
I’m in trouble.
Once inside, he stands watching me with caution yet softness. He strokes my cheek intending to soak in all my fears.
“Sorry. I just need a minute to process everything.” With my hands pressing on the door, I lean against it, watching Logan watch me.
The chemistry between us is unmatched.
“I’m not going anywhere, dove.”
The flutter of my heart makes my stomach flip-flop with excitement. “It’s just… it’s hard for me to think it’s really over. That Jason would actually let me go. Will he come after you? What if he decides he wants me back? What if—”
“Shh. Hey.” The largeness of Logan engulfs me and the touch of him as he holds my waist soothes away the worry. “He’s not coming back. Trust me. You’re free, Sora. Safe. He’ll never lay his hands on you again.” The threat deep in his voice sends an icy shiver through me.
I nod, swallowing harshly. “Thank you for getting me out of there. I wish I could have saved myself, but I’m glad I had you.”
“Oh, my sweet dove. You did. You’re so fucking brave. So strong. I was just there to lend a little help.”
Tears form and before I know it, they roll down each cheek and onto the arms of my savior. “I think I love you, Logan Beckham.”
My heart thumps out of control, but as soon as he grins, I let out a relaxed breath.
“And I love you, Sora. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with you the day I saw you in that lake.”
I smile. My heart smiles and without a second thought, I throw myself into the arms of the man I actually love. Without ever having this feeling before. Sure, I loved my father, love Lana, but beingin loveis a wild thing. Like yellow dandelions on a sunny day. It is unlike anything I’ve ever had before, and I wantit all with Logan. The love. The home. The future. With him and only him.
He holds me as I bury myself into him, his muscled arms wrapped around my back so tightly.
Then I remember…
I pull away, locking eyes with him. “I’m not married anymore, Logan. Well, I mean, I am but—”
He doesn’t let me finish as he crashes his lips to mine. A moan rushes out as I’m being lifted off the ground and into Logan’s arms. He holds me bridal style while we still kiss like we’ve missed out on years together.
And… maybe we have.
His tongue dances with mine before breaking away to carry me up the front steps and inside. My feet hit the floor, and his fiery eyes rake over my body. Piece by piece, he ignites me.
“Take off the dress.” He prowls closer. “As hot as you look in it, I never want to see it again.”
