“Want some company?” he asked.
“I like company.”
Caden slipped into the bath behind me and gathered me into his arms. I settled in comfortably, closing my eyes. He traced soft patterns on my skin, his purr gently coaxing me into exhausted bliss. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d been this relaxed. Though, to be fair, I didn’t think I’d ever had the potent combination of being fed, fucked, and then soaked in a hot bath with a gorgeous man—shifter—before.
I fell asleep at some point and woke to Caden nuzzling my cheek, the water tepid around us. Seth was loafing on the edge of the tub when I opened my eyes.
No one gave me tuna.
I laughed, breaking the quiet. “If I can walk when I get out of here, I’ll grab it for you. Otherwise you have to harass your brother for it.”
Seth let out a plaintive meow. I reached a damp hand toward him and scratched behind his ears. Seth hopped down from the edge, running into the kitchen while Caden helped me up, and I stood placidly while he toweled me dry, distracting me through the process with cheeky touches and lingering kisses.
Tuna!
I pulled on my robe to wander into the kitchen, where Seth paced impatiently. “I wish my needs were this simple.”
Walnut brain makes me focus on food.I’d be more complex if I were in human form.
I dug out the can opener and some tuna, busting it open for Seth. He chomped down on it the second I got it on the floor. Caden followed a moment later, wearing only a towel. But then, it wasn’t like he had much else to wear with his borrowed pants in the wash.
“I’ll go to the store on my lunch break and pick you up some stuff to wear.”
“I’d appreciate that. I can hang out without clothes in either cat form, but it’s not quite as comfortable to do that in this one.” He sighed and came to stand next to me, watching his brother stuff his face on tuna. “I’d offer to pay for it, but I’d have to go to a nest to access what money I still have.”
“That’s okay. I’ll be your sugar mama for a while.”
That must have caught him off guard because he snorted and laughed so hard he choked.
I wasn’t perky for much longer and Caden was bundling me off to bed. “You sleep tonight. I’ll handle the kittens.”
“You don’t have to.”
“It’s literally the least I can do.” He stripped me out of my robe and put me horizontal, tucking the blankets around me. “Sleep.”
Helpless to do anything but obey, I did.
When I opened my eyes again, it was to the glorious scent of coffee wafting into my nose.
“Good morning.” I blinked and found Caden standing beautifully shirtless and wearing another pair of my stretchiest pants. He must have gone through my dresser while I was asleep.
“You look way too good in my clothes.”
“Not as good asyou’dlook in these.” He set a cup of coffee onto the bedside table for me. “Breakfast is ready, coffee is here, and you have half an hour before you start work.”
I sat up groggily and accepted the cup he passed over, taking a long, slow sip of the sweet, creamy beverage. “You know how I take my coffee?”
“I’ve watched you make it every morning.”
“That’s fair. What’s for breakfast?”
“Scrambled eggs with peppers, toast, and a couple of sad sausages I found in your freezer.”
Oh, hell. I was getting five-star breakfast service in my own house. I’d only expected the toast when he told me he’d made breakfast.
I sipped away half my coffee before sliding out of bed, pulling on some semi-presentable clothes, and venturing out to eat the food. I didn’t realize how hungry I was until the first bite passed my lips. I inhaled the rest of my plate and sat back, patting my tummy.
“That was delicious.”
