Damn it!
His hand flexes, his grip tightening before letting me go and stepping back. We stare at each other, both of us panting as we try to catch our breath, our desire and longing mirrored on each other’s faces.
I look around at the guys, seeing similar looks of lust and passion and something more. It was the more that scared me the most.
More meant pain and heartache and was something I couldn’t think about right now.
Not when caring about them only gave King another target to play with. I couldn’t let him get his hands on them.
Kai sees something in my eyes as he moves toward me, but Rion blocks him.
“That should do it.”
Narrowing his eyes, he takes a moment before nodding his head. Releasing a harsh breath, Kai walks over to the entrance and bangs on the doors.
“It’s done. The agreement is sealed. Open up.”
It takes a minute for the doors to start their slow grind open, giving me a moment to get a hold of myself and my thoughts.
What the hell was I thinking? Of course, it would never be just a simple kiss. Not with them. They have held a piece of my heart since we were kids and now, they were sneaking back in to try and make that piece grow.
I needed to stay away from them all and focus on my plan and not these treacherous feelings. They would do nothing but get me in trouble.
Two of King’s bodyguards enter the room with a small man in a gold and black robe.
A Reader.
This must be King’s way of proving the agreement went ahead.
King’s insignia is at the front right corner of his robes, revealing where his loyalties lay. He couldn’t be trusted, not if he followed that monster blindly.
All we could do was hope that Luka’s plan worked.
The reader’s grey eyes light up, glowing like a stormy cloud. We wait in silence as he uses his power to search us and our energies for the evidence he needs to scurry back and update King.
His gaze scans the room, taking in each of the guys for a moment before landing on me. Tilting his head eerily, his ominous eyes seize me to my spot. I reply with a bored glare, hoping the twists and turns of my stomach hold out a bit longer. If this doesn’t work, King will be sure to make our torture sessions more creative, and that’s without what he’d do to Alana.
This plan had to work.
From the corner of my eyes, I see the guy’s subtle shift around me, awaiting on his verdict.
After what feels like an eternity, he closes his eyes, opening them to reveal normal dull grey ones and giving King’s guards a nod.
“I’ll be sure to inform King of your… consummated agreement.” His smile is disturbing, sending an icy shiver down my back.
“Have a nice day.” Giving us each a nod, he heads out, the bodyguards following close behind him.
A beat of silence follows before Jax speaks up. “Well, that was a little anticlimactic.”
Rion rubs a hand down his face. “That was a close one.”
“Pff, we were fine. We marked herrealgood. Isn’t that right, sweetheart?” His eyes slowly trail down my body, lighting it up with a single look.
I clear my throat while trying to think of something to give myself time to cool down. Before I can form any type of reply, Axel grabs him by the shoulder, a cruel smile on his lips as he looks at me.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find us some willing bodies we can sink our teeth into later.”
Jax's replying smile is sinful awaiting my reaction.
