“Lovesis an understatement. I know you hate whenever the family tells people about you. I couldn’t hold it in any longer and told her.”
“Either way, I needed a drink and some nice weather.”
Kora remained seated, her leg crossed as she enjoyed the weather and view in front of us. “How have you been, Don?”
“Busy.”
“Doing?”
“Working.”
She took a sip of her wine. “Are the short answers because we were invited to the wedding?”
“Nah.”
Kora sighed. “I haven’t RSVP’d, and I don’t know if I will even go. This is better off this way. I know you have this crush on her but look who she’s marrying. You don’t need to involve yourself with making a mess with Kennedy. Maverick has already told you about his stance on this. Get you a sweet girl like Navy.” She winked at Navy, who smiled.
I watched as she stood up, kissed my cheek and strutted up back toward the house. As much as her advice was solid, I didn’t want to hear that shit right now. Not when she was just texting me to pick her up and spending the weekend with me last month.
Kora’s advice was the last thing I wanted to hear right now. I didn’t want to hear shit when she had all this time to tell me, and she hid that shit from me. Fucking lied to me, while telling me that she wanted to be with me, and it was fear that was stopping her.
It was never fear.
She was fucking engaged on the low and didn’t know how to tell me the truth, so she continued to string me along, hoping that eventually I would be the one that stepped away, so she didn’t have to.
Greene looked at me. “I wanted to tell you, but I knew it wasn’t my place.”
“You good… wasn’t your place and I respect that you minded your business.”
She smiled, then jumped up. “Oh shit, she has to have her ice cream before she naps.” I watched as she jogged back up toward the house, catching up with Kora.
Navy tried to busy herself with fixing her dress and looking out at the pool now that it was just the two of us left. Greene wasn’t worried about no damn ice cream; she was leaving us alone on purpose.
“I said if it was meant for me to see you again, then I would.”
She smiled, sitting her plate and drink onto the table. “You did say that. Universe works quick.”
“Or we got people in the same circles.” I watched as she crossed her legs and fixed her hair, knowing that it was already perfect.
Messing with her hair was something she did whenever she was nervous.
The simple black linen dress she wore was loose, but I could tell that it gripped her ass and thighs the minute that she stood up. There wasn’t too much that could hide that ass she was carrying around. A different purse from her knock off was sitting beside her, and matched her sandals, with her cute white toes.
“Why are you staring at me so hard?”
“Can’t appreciate art?”
“Ha, funny.”
“I got something for you, Bleu… B…L…E…U,” I spelled it out for her, and she was impressed.
“Did Greene tell you or did you go home to your huge mansion and google little ol’ me?” she teased.
“Don’t live in a big ass mansion but did go home to my penthouse and googled you though. Is that a problem for you?”
She smiled. “We’re even because I googled your car and then slammed the laptop shut when I saw the price and how exclusive it was.”
“What’s the matter?” I asked, not acknowledging the conversation about my car. It was the way she looked when she mentioned going home to google my car.
