Soon as the elevator opened,Mink ran out the elevator to find Landon. She was so fake, and it tickled me. Whenever he wasn’t around, she would cuddle with me. Let him come around, she was acting like he was her man. Snuggled up on him and giving me the stank eye like I wasn’t the reason she was rescued.

I sat my purse down onto the counter and washed my hands before going into the fridge to grab water. Tossing Jett a bottle, he sat down at the counter and guzzled the water. Today, I made him ditch the car and take the train with me.

He had every reason to be more tired than me because we used an oversized Ikea bag to transport Mink in while on the train. He was the one that had to carry her up and down the steps, and then we walked five blocks to get here.

“I hit the gym every morning, Navy. Take the fucking car next time,” he pleaded as I smirked, tickled that he was out of breath, and ready to quit because I enjoyed the train.

“The minute I become a Caselli; my train days are over. I am enjoying the train as much as I can until that happens.”

The slippers shuffling across the wooden floors, and the taps of Mink’s feet, let me know she had found her person.

Little traitor.

Don rounded the corner with his towel wrapped around his waist, and his body just calling me. We had to play it safe when it came to sex. He still had to get an analysis, so we weren’t having sex.

“Bleu, if you came over here with some fucking cards knowing I wanna fuck, you can take Jett and get the fuck on.”

I covered my face. “Really, Landon?”

The cards in my purse would remain because he clowned my card games. Jett dapped him and then headed out. I could tell he wanted to cuss me out because I made him take the train. He bent down and gave Mink a shake, and then he was gone.

“What’s going on, Pooh?” he walked up on me, staring down at me.

I backed away from him. “I am doing perfectly fine… you need to keep your distance.”

Licking his lips, my weakness, he moved closer. “You scared?”

“Never scared… we just need to be careful or I’m gonna have to get on birth control until we have the clear that your soldiers aren’t marching anymore.”

Landon said the doctor said it could take up to two months before he was fully sterile, and that we may have wanted to get on some birth control if we were serious about no children.

“You said that shit makes you sick and breaks you out,” he rubbed my face with the back of his hand, staring down at me.

“It does. I can mess around with different ones to see how they work.”

“Nah. Don’t want you putting that shit in your body if it fucks you up. Condoms and pulling out.”

“Okay,” I reached up and kissed his lips.

“Did you ever get the leak fixed in the sitting room?”

A couple weeks ago, Don said that the sitting room had a leak, and he had to have someone come in and do construction. The sliding doors were closed, and I kind of liked sitting in there.

“Yeah, you wanna see?”

“Yes, I kind of missed sitting in there.” He pulled me behind him, as he slid the heavy doors open with ease.

“Fixed it.”

I stood there in shock as I looked at what he had done to the sitting room. There were built in bookshelves going up toward the ceiling with a ladder that attached to it. In front of the shelves, he had a comfy couch with a throw blanket, and recording equipment.

“Landon, are you kidding me?”

He came behind me and kissed my neck. “You’re always at peace when you talk about your books. Always so into what you’re reading and doing… I want to keep you at peace. I know this is a hobby, but I wanted you to have your own space where you can close the door and ignore me and Mink.”

I spun around in his arms and kissed his lips. “Why are you so good? How… you really listen to me.”

“I watched your videos and heard the bus in the background, or typical noise out the window. Bleu, you are the love of my life, and it makes me happy when you’re happy.”
