My gaze moved between my two friends. “You really want to know how I feel?” I slipped my hand in the front pocket of my jeans. “I feel like you two assholes can suck my dick. How’s that for a feeling?”
Logan shrugged and took a sip of his drink. “Sorry, man, but that’s not really my thing.”
Dwayne held up his hands and smirked. “Don’t look at me. I’m already taken.”
Logan set his drink down and released a heavy sigh through his nose. “Listen, we’ve all had our hearts broken. It sucks, but this moping shit has to stop. Either man up and go after her or get on with your life and get over her.”
“Get over her,” I gritted through my teeth. My chest was heaving, I’ve had enough of their games. “I haven’t been able to sleep in my own damn bed because I reach for her in the middle of the night. I can’t cook in my own damn kitchen because she occupies my every thought,” I admitted, cutting right through the bullshit. “I even fucking listed my hot tub for sale because I can’t sit in there anymore and relax without being assaulted with memories of her.”
Logan grew silent while Dwayne stared at the dirty floor. I knew coming out tonight wasn’t going to be easy, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I picked it up and looked at the screen. I held the phone to one ear and covered the other with my free hand to hear better. “What’s up, Quinn?”
“Where are you?”
My eyebrows drew together. “I’m at Sharkey’s, why?”
“Get your ass in an Uber and get over to the Autograph. I had to drop off some security equipment to the guys and there is an engagement party going on. Want to take a guess whose it is?”
My hand tightened around the phone, so hard I thought it might crack in half. I lifted my head, Dwyane and Logan were both watching me.
I came out tonight hoping that I could move on, but I failed miserably. Because what Amelia and I had was real, unlike that fake fucking engagement party that was taking place across town. If I was ever going to finally get my head out of my ass and make my move, now was the time.
Amelia’s words rang in my head.
What we have is worth fighting for.
“I’ll be there in fifteen.”
“Get here sooner before it’s too late,” he said and hung up.
