She looked him up and down. “If I wasn’t a happily married woman, I would debate that fact.” She shifted her attention back to me. “Now, as I was saying. I get that it feels like she dropped a bomb on you. You have every right to be upset that she waited so long to tell you, but you didn’t give her a full chance to explain. Who knows whether it would have made a difference or not?”

As far as I was concerned, a lie of omission was still a lie. And I warned her I didn’t forgive easily, she knew my heart was already bruised. So why was I suddenly having a brief moment of regret?

“Listen, I have to get back to my friends. I’m sorry if I came across as a bitch, I’m just frustrated because Amelia deserves to be happy and Marco,” she leaned in and touched my hand, “you made her happier than I’ve ever seen her. So, please, I’m begging you, don’t waste another day wallowing in your anger and denying yourself the chance of ever knowing the truth.”

I averted my eyes as she disappeared into the crowd. Her words struck me deep.

“Damn.” Logan angled his head to the side, trying to catch whatever glimpse he could.

“Dude?” I smacked my cup down on the table, the liquid spilling over. “She is married with a kid,” I informed him as he shamelessly continued to search her out.

He held his hands up. “I know, but did you see those black leather pants she was wearing? If she ever leaves her husband, you need to let me know.”

My eyes slid shut, not acknowledging his idiotic request. My stomach was too tied up in knots and for the first time in the past week, I was feeling confused and second-guessing everything.
