It wasn’t until I heard her retreating footsteps make their way down the hall that I was finally able to breathe again.
Quinn ran his hands through his thick black hair. “You want to make sure the coast is clear?”
I quietly opened the door and peeked outside. Once I was satisfied that she was gone, I gave him a nod. He kissed my forehead. “I’ll go out first.” He gave me a sly smile that had my pulse kicking up a notch. “Maybe we can finish what we started later.”
I nodded in agreement. Hell yes, we could. I shut the door and turned around, staring at myself in the bathroom mirror. There was a smile on my face and a warmness in my chest that I didn’t want to lose.
I stepped out into the hall. Quinn and Brody looked to be having a heated discussion. I tried to be quiet because it looked like whatever it was, was serious and I didn’t want to interrupt. It wasn’t until I heard my name that I paused. Curiosity got the better of me, so I inched closer.
“You have to tell Charlotte. It’s going to come out. It will be better if she hears it from you.” Brody’s voice was stern.
“How the fuck do I tell her? How the hell do I tell her that her piece of shit husband slipped her a fucking roofie the night her daughter was conceived?”
A gasp flew out of my mouth causing both men to turn around.
