“Nice to meet you, Tempe.” She smiles.

“Don’t bother.” Reina leans back in her seat, taking a sip of her drink. “She’s not one of us, Wren. She’s just the reason Steel’s been antisocial lately. She’ll be gone soon enough.”

“Drop it, Reina.” Luna rolls her eyes.

“It’s fine.” I release Wren’s hand, turning my attention to Reina.

Just because jealousy won’t do me any good doesn’t mean I’m going to let her sit there and walk all over me.

I cross my arms over my chest, looking Reina up and down. She’s pretty, especially tonight, with her makeup painted on perfectly. Her blonde hair is tied back, and she’s a natural beauty, even if her breasts clearly aren’t. The patch bunnies seem to flock to her, so I’d guess she’s at least loyal to them.

If her interest in Jameson was genuine, I’d feel bad about the fact that she’s hurt by him not showing her any attention. But one look in her devilish eyes, and I know there’s only one thing she’s after—his patch.

She probably sees nothing wrong with it, given the unapologetic way she chases after the men here. But if she knew Jameson like I do, she’d know he’d never put his name on the back of someone who only wanted him for that reason.

“What?” Reina snaps at me.

“You can be angry, or you can move on, Reina. But I’m not going anywhere so long as Steel wants me here, so you’re going to have to deal with that.” I glare, trying to ignore how his road name doesn’t feel right on my tongue unless I’m using it to push his buttons.

“Well then…” Reina stands up, swaying her hips as she approaches. She’s slightly shorter than me, and her curves are impressive in comparison. “In that case, I guess all I have to do is wait you out. And if I know my man, it won’t take long for him to get bored of you.”

My man.

Bored.

Every word burrows under my skin. I want more than anything to think that what Jameson and I share is special, but what if that’s how he is with every girl, and that’s why Reina’s so heartbroken?

After all, he has the power to make a girl feel like the center of the galaxy all on his own.

He’s attentive, patient, focused.

But that doesn’t mean what he shows me is anything unique or special.

Reina grins like she knows she’s getting in my head, and I hate it. My throat is on fire with all the things I want to say but don’t. I can’t claim him any more than she can, and I’m still not sure I want to. As safe as Jameson makes me feel, this life is dangerous.

It’s unpredictable and messy.

Being with him means living in this environment twenty-four seven. Worse, inserting Austin into it. That’s a commitment I don’t think I’m prepared for.

“Hey, wildfire.” An arm wraps around my shoulders, and I look up to see Jameson pulling me to his side. “Come sit with me.”

Reina’s smile falls as she looks up at him, and all the girls go quiet.

The way this man silences a group of people with his presence is something I’ve never witnessed before. And with how the girls around the fire pit are looking up at him like he’s the moon shining in the sky, I don’t know how any one person can be enough for him.

Jameson doesn’t seem to notice as he pulls me to a different part of the yard. Luna follows, waving hello at almost everyone we pass.

“How are classes going?” Jameson asks Luna.

He stops at a chair that backs up to the clubhouse, pulling me onto his lap when he sinks into it.

“Good, this is my last semester for my associate’s. Then who knows.” She freezes when she sees the only other empty seat is directly next to Ghost.

“Sit.” Jameson directs Luna to the chair, and even if she looks uneasy about it, she sits down.

I still can’t figure out Ghost and Luna. She’s one of the most outgoing people I’ve ever met, but around him, she gets nervous. They act like they’ve never spoken to each other when she’s the one who helps him with surveillance.

“You want a drink?” Jameson brushes my hair off my cheek and tucks it behind my ear.
