“Locks… Yes…” She trails off, getting lost in kissing my lips. “Much… better.”
“Fuck, get a room.”
I look up and see Noah climbing up the back of the bus with Merry right behind him. Apparently, me dry humping Cassie on the roof of the bus isn’t enough of a hint for them to fuck off.
So I say it. “Fuck off.”
Noah laughs and takes a seat.
Reluctantly, I roll off Cassie and pull her up so she’s seated between my legs with her back against my chest. She’s still breathing hard; when my arms wrap around her, she shivers.
If it wasn’t for Noah and Merry being total cock blocks, I could have fucked Cassie all night. Her tight body wiggling with pleasure while I took her with my fingers. My tongue. My dick. Damn it, I’m still rock hard. I need to stop thinking about it.
“Already tired of the after party?” I ask them, annoyed.
“Two words.” Noah holds up a finger. “Shit,” he lifts another, “show.”
“Isn’t that your scene?” Cassie asks, and I can’t help but laugh. I’m not the only one irritated by our unwanted guests.
Noah shakes his head, and Merry gives him a funny look.
“Too many drugs,” Noah says, swiping his long, blond hair off his face. And it all makes sense.
He might party and fuck like there’s no tomorrow, but he doesn’t touch drugs anymore. Not even tame shit like alcohol or a little pot when the whole band is blazing up. But even though he doesn’t partake, it’s never seemed to bother him that he’s still surrounded by it. Except right now. From the look on his face, I notice he’s struggling more than I’ve realized lately. Maybe I’ve just been too distracted by Cassie to see it.
Cassie looks up at me, and I feel like we have a conversation with our eyes about whatever the fuck is going on with Noah. I’ve never had that with anyone, short of Eloise and her twin, voodoo tricks. Whatever my eyes are telling Cassie, she seems to get it, sitting up a little and dropping her irritated gaze.
“Well, Noah,” Cassie says, smiling, her eyes darting to me and then back to him. “You’re in luck because the only thing we’re up here getting high on tonight is the universe.”
She waves an arm up to the sky, and Merry bursts out laughing, like the shit Cassie just said is the most insane thing she’s ever heard. It probably is.
“I don’t believe you’re sober for a minute.” Noah laughs. “What the fuck are you two smoking? Because what you just said is some serious hippy shit. You sound like your fucking brother.”
Cassie stiffens, and I wrap my arms a little tighter. Like maybe my grip can hold her in place, even if I have no right to be the one to comfort her. But she relaxes and takes a deep breath.
“I blame our mom,” she says, smiling like there’s a fond memory playing in her head, but she’s not sharing. “But unlike my brother, I promise, my stargazing is purely non-pharmaceutical.”
“Okay then, hippy chick.” Noah kicks his legs back and lies down, spread wide on the top of the bus. “Teach me something.”
Cassie laughs and turns to lie down again, and I position myself beside her while Merry lays back beside Noah, uncharacteristically quiet.
The four of us stare up at the night sky, and Cassie points out constellations, telling us their names and meanings. Drawing her fingers in the air like she’s tracing them. And everyone just listens, lost in the stories. A lot like when her brother used to get high and tell us similar things.
After a while, Cassie’s telling a love story—I think—about Perseus trying to save Andromeda by cutting off Medusa’s head. It’s dark shit, not what I was expecting. And it occurs to me: what wouldn’t I do for Cassie?
I would do every. Fucking. Thing.
I’m no longer staring at the stars; I’m staring at her. And she’s burning brighter than any of them.

Cassie
“Areyousuretheband isn’t going to mind?” My eyes flick to the doorway that leads to the front of the bus as I nervously chew the inside of my cheek.
Before today, I had only ever seen the outside of the band’s tour bus. Stepping inside felt like entering another universe, one poised to open its mouth and swallow me whole.
All eyes burned my direction as Sebastian took my hand and tugged me to the sitting area in the back, and I could feel the weight in whatever they were thinking. Especially Adrian, who looked less than thrilled about the situation.
