Page 7 of Heart Break Her

“Noah,” she says flatly. “Don’t you have tits to entertain?”

“I’d rather entertain yours.” He winks.

That gets him a swat on the chest, which he ignores with a laugh.

“Who’s your friend?” His gaze slides my direction.

He might not be Sebastian, but it doesn’t stop my body from appreciating those gorgeous dimples or the way his eyes skim me from head to toe with one glance.

“Cassie, meet Noah, bottom of the rock star barrel,” Merry says, sucking on her straw. “Feel free to ignore him. I usually do.”

“Nice to meet you, Cassie.” He takes my hand and plants a kiss on the back of it, getting an eye roll from Merry in return. “Will you be joining us for the after party?”

“I thought this was it.”

Noah throws his head back and laughs like it’s the funniest thing he’s heard all day. When he meets my stare again, the smile on his face tilts me off balance. I might be well versed in the fact that he’s a bad boy, a player, and everything in between. But his baby face and giant smile are disarming.

“We’re headed back to Rome’s suite after this. Just a select few.” He’s still holding my hand and grinning at me.

“Actually…” I pull my hand away and reach for my jacket. “I think I’m gonna take off.”

“Nice work, Romeo,” Merry says, glaring at Noah.

“No, it’s okay,” I say, sliding off the bar stool. “It’s been a long night, and I think I’ve hit my limit.”

Merry stops herself from arguing when she sees the look on my face. Tonight was exactly what I needed—exciting and freeing. But the music brought back too many memories, and I’m at my max.

“You’re still in town tomorrow, right?” I ask Merry.

She shakes her head. “No, headed to Portland first thing in the morning. Then the East Coast.”

“All right, well have fun. And text me.” I wrap my arms around her shoulders, and she pulls me in for a big hug.

Even if I don’t see Merry as much as I’d like to anymore with the band’s busy touring schedule, it’s good to catch up when she’s passing through Seattle.

When I pull away, she keeps her hands on my arms and squeezes. “Take care.”

“It was nice to meet you,” Noah says with a smile. He definitely knows what he’s doing because his grin could give anyone butterflies.

“You too,” I say, ducking away.

Merry turns in her stool to face him and scowls as they flow into something that looks halfway between a conversation and an argument. I always assumed Merry despised Noah from the way she’s talked about him on the phone. But now, seeing them interact for the first time, it seems like there’s more to it.

Stepping out of the bar, I feel like, for the first time tonight, I can breathe again. The stars are bright in the dark sky, and the air is crisp. It’s chilly, and I have to pull my jacket closed as I make my way through the parking lot.

But when I get to my car, I stop, noticing a figure leaning against it. A man—but not just any man.

Sebastian Kane. The one and only.

He stands there in ripped jeans and a black leather jacket that’s been well worn and fits him perfectly. Rings and bracelets decorate his fingers and hands. His thick, dark blond hair falls to the ridge of his eyebrows and looks messy, like fingers have been run through it during a marathon of great sex.

He doesn’t notice me as he takes a drag of his joint and holds the inhale in his mouth for a long moment. I watch him mull over the breath, before slowly letting it dissipate from his lips, out into the night.

All right, universe, I hear you.

I take another step closer, and the movement catches his attention. He turns and—those eyes.

Damn those eyes.
