Lena nodded sympathetically. “I understand.”

Kadie bid farewell to Mr. Ravenwood and the rest of Sofia’s family.

“Call Rosa for me, will you?” Sofia asked. “I haven’t heard from her in a while.”

“Yeah,” Micah said. “She’s been avoiding my calls, too. Makes me wonder what mischief she’s up to.”

“Probably flirting with all the good-looking guys in Florida,” Kadie said, hoping the other vampires couldn’t tell she was lying. She wasn’t sure why Micah and Sofia were so against their sister becoming a vampire, but it was none of her business.

“Yeah, that sounds like Rosie,” Micah agreed.

“You all enjoy the rest of your vacation,” Kadie said. “I’ll see you when you get home.”

There were hugs all around and last goodbyes, as well as another reminder from Micah to check in on Rosa.

Stepping out onto the hotel balcony, Kadie picked up her suitcases, closed her eyes and focused on Rylan and her desire to be with him.

When the world stopped spinning, she was in their lair. Dropping her suitcases on the floor, she quickly undressed, then slid under the covers and rested her head on her husband’s shoulder.

Saintcrow came awake instantly when his nostrils filled with Kadie’s scent. Rolling over, he pulled her into his arms. “Kadie.” He whispered her name, then frowned. “Is everything okay? I wasn’t expecting you home for another month.”

“I missed you.” She ran her hands over his broad chest and shoulders, down his muscular arms, to settle on his belly. “Every single inch.”

He growled low in his throat as he flipped her onto her back and rose over her, his eyes hot. “Yeah?” he muttered, a wicked gleam in his eye. “Well, every single inch missed you, too.”

“Show me, Rylan.” She threaded her fingers through his hair and pulled his head down. “Show me how much.”

He had missed her too much for foreplay. That could come next time. For now, he buried himself deep within her. No matter how many times they made love, it was never enough. She was his whole life, as he was hers. And she gave as good as she got.

Saintcrow woke smiling when he roused late the next morning. So, it hadn’t been a dream. Kadie had come home. For a time, he simply lay there beside her, admiring the smoothness of her skin, the silky feel of her hair, her luscious curves, the way her lashes lay like dark fans on her cheeks, the faint smile on her face that told him she had been well-loved the night before.

He eased out of bed, knowing she would likely rest until sunset.

He showered and dressed before going upstairs. An indrawn breath told him Rosa was in the kitchen. There was a cake in the oven. Busy little homemaker, he mused, as he materialized in the doorway.

She smiled at him over her shoulder. “Good morning.”

He nodded. “And to you.”

“Too bad you can’t eat,” she remarked as the timer on the stove went off.

He grunted. “What’s the occasion?”

“None,” she said, as she removed the cake from the oven. “I just felt like baking.”

“You gonna eat that whole thing by yourself?”

“Not until I frost it. Who eats cake without frosting?”

Saintcrow shrugged. He had never tasted cake and had long ago forgotten the taste of anything else he’d ever eaten.

“I’m not going to eat it all,” she said. “A girl has to watch her weight. I thought I’d keep a slice or two and take what’s left down to the hotel restaurant.”

“I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.”

“I’ll have to let it cool a while before I frost it.”

“What are your plans for today?” He pulled a chair from the table, turned it around, and straddled the seat.
