Page 33 of His Fate

I snortas the little dots appear, knowing damn well I just made him growl while he tries to send me an appropriate response.

KAI:Posey...

ME: What? It was a valid question. That could have been interpreted any number of ways.

KAI: Would you like me to pick you up and give you a ride home?

ME: Ooo, I'm impressed. Your text has more words than you usually use when we're face to face.

KAI: I'll be there in ten.

Giggling like an idiot,I scroll through my playlists and settle on a little Post Malone to get me through until my sexy chauffeur shows up.

Abandoning my project and opting to take care of it in the morning, I pick up my mess, hips swaying to “Wow” until the machine is neatly packed away. “Ball For Me” comes on next and I can't help the way it makes me move.

My formal training, if that's what you want to call my years of dance classes, kicks in and I start shaking my ass while rapping right along with Posty.

My shoulders roll, knees lock, and I twerk like I'm getting paid to do it. I use my flathead as a microphone and belt out the words, butt bouncing and I even pop and lock a few times. Swinging my hips in a circle, I bend at the waist then shake my ass like it's my job, drop to the floor then slowly come up before throwing in a little sexy belly dance.

I go to spin just as the Nikki Minaj part starts and the second I do I whip my screwdriver at the big body leaning in the doorway.

"Shit eating muskrats!" I grab the collar of my T-shirt to try to keep my heart from pounding out of my chest. "You scared the hell out of me, Kai."

His eyes are dark, diamond pupils wide but his lips twitch at the corners while he stares. "Forgive me, beloved. I did not mean to startle you."

Nodding, breathing heavily, I say, "I will never understand how someone as big as you is so fucking quiet all the time."

"It is a gift."

"Depends on who you ask. If my heart rate ever goes back to normal I'll make sure to weigh in on the topic."

Kai looks me up and down, a very serious look of approval on his face. "What were you doing just now?"

"Almost having a heart attack."

He shakes his head. "Before I startled you."

"Dancing?"

"That was not dancing."

I purse my lips as my brow furrows. "Yes it was."

"No."

"It was. I was a dancer for years, lots of years. I took all kinds of dance classes until we couldn't afford them. I had a legit shot at making it into a career. That was dancing."

"I believe that you are a dancer." His brow quirks as Kai tries to ignite my panties by pulling his bottom lip between his teeth. "I've just never seen anything like that."

"Really?" I grin and start popping my ass because it's fun and I like the way it makes Kai's eyes flare. "You've never seen anyone twerk?"

"I do not like that word."

I giggle as I do it to the beat, start back into the dance I was doing without an audience. "Twerk?"

He nods.

"What should I call it then?"
