"God, Posey. You still haven't filled their orders yet?" Joyce says as she drops her tray to the counter and leans so her boobs are lifted on the glossy wood. "They've been sitting here forever and you haven't even touched a glass or bottle."
Brie, Joyce's lap dog and the other waitress, drops her tray and tries to follow her lead. "Yeah, and we have orders piling up for the dining room."
"Travis can't do everything on his own and you can't hog all these handsome strangers' attention for yourself."
I turn, take a look at all the tables that clearly have all their drinks, look back at Travis who is playing on his phone then to Casey who is sitting at the table full of college boys doing shots. She's keeping tabs on me though, which I appreciate because Casey knows better than anyone how horrible Joyce Ward is.
Crossing my arms against my chest defensively, I arch a brow. "Do you really want to do this now?"
"Do what?" Joyce mirrors my position, only she uses her arms to push her boobs up to her chin.
"This. Whatever pissing match you're trying to start with me in front of your next target."
She looks totally offended but doesn't falter. "How dare you accuse me of something so vulgar!" Joyce turns to the brothers of beauty and plasters on a fake pout. "Can you believe how she talks to me? No wonder why you haven't gotten your drinks yet. Why don't you just let Brie and I take care of you tonight?"
If they couldn't pick up on her ulterior motive from that double-edged sword, the fact that she reached out and trailed a pointy finger up Milos’s arm while trying to grab Kai's hand made it clear.
My guess is Joyce pegs them to be ruggedly rich, a term I've actually heard her use, and since she's making her interest known so obviously, she probably also thinks they have big dicks and would engage in some crazy orgy with her and Brie as willing participants.
Fucking disgusting.
Although the thing about their dicks probably isn't wrong.
But to my great pleasure, Milos shakes off her finger and Kai practically recoils like he was just burned.
"Posey will be taking care of us tonight," Andrej, of all people, says with a pointed look.
Ah, but he doesn't know Joyce Ward.
"And why would you want an old hag like her waiting on you when you could have two young, hot, flexible girls taking care of your every need?"
I roll my eyes and pop my hip against the counter but wince a little inwardly.
All four of these men are way too pretty for me even just to sleep with, and Joyce just reiterated that by stating it's pretty much obvious to everyone with eyeballs that I don't stand a chance.
Kai's head snaps in my direction as he blinks, then he turns back to Joyce with a look that could kill. "Posey is ours tonight. You and yourBriecan go wait on the infants chugging straight from the pitchers."
"They seem to be more your type." Henrich gives a sickly smirk.
Milos nods and shoots me a sly smile. "Should be easy for you to get into theirbritches."
I snort against the back of my hand to hide my smile then look away. Not to hide the tears that are totallynotswimming in my eyes because these four beautiful strangers just put Joyce in her place on my behalf. Nope, I just know that if I look at her all mad and flustered I'll laugh way too hard. Yeah, that's why I turn.
After Joyce huffs and puffs and threatens to tell Bill about my job performance, she and Brie storm off to find their next unsuspecting victims.
"She'll be back," I say while lining up four shot glasses.
They frown in unison but Henrich asks, "Why? Were we too subtle about our lack of interest in her obvious intent?"
I giggle as I start pouring our top shelf vodka. "Are you kidding? The four of you are about to be the undisputed hot topic of the century." Pushing their shot glasses forward I start ticking things off on my fingers. "New in town. From another country. Mysterious. Charming. A little scary. Most likely financially stable. Probably not serial killers." Then I grin and look right at Kai. "And you're hotter than any sins committed by Satan himself. I think it's safe to say you four have not seen the last of Joyce Ward."
"She smelled of silicone and bleach," Andrej says while sniffing his shot glass
I lose my shit and start cracking up, tapping my finger to my nose. "You are not wrong, friend. Not wrong at all."
The rest of my night goes by quickly, thanks to the four brothers who stay right up until closing. They were polite and funny, kind and super interesting. I felt safe having them around. Not that Wild Bill's makes me feel unsafe but still. It was nice having them there and I got to discreetly stare at Kai for almost two hours, so that's a huge bonus.
Joyce shot me evil looks all night, especially when Kai would lean over the bar a little to speak to me, but other than that I'm not complaining.
