Page 98 of His Fate

Thank god for that.

"You seem to be taking it in stride?"

She gives me a soft smile. "It just makes sense. You and Gracie have always been so badass, it seems right that you can change into beautiful, powerful apex predators and rip people's faces off."

I snort then rest my chin on my knees. "Yeah, something like that." Tilting my head a little I look her in the eye. "You're not mad?"

"No." Allie shakes her head and rests it on her knees too. "I understand, I accept, I think it's pretty fucking cool. I mean my boyfriend… fiancé? Husband?" She giggles. "I don't know what to call him."

"Your mate." I smile. "Andrej is your mate, your other half, your fated one."

"I like all of that. And my mate explained a lot, a lot about dragons anyway. The rest I've just picked up on in his head."

Now would be the perfect time to tell Allie about how I screamed and thought Kai was gonna kill me in the woods when he shifted in front of me, she'd crack up at that, but then I'd have to explain the why of freaking out since I'm a dragon too and I definitely don't feel like getting into that now.

So instead I keep things focused on her.

"The wings are pretty cool, right?"

She nods with a huge smile. "I can't wait to see his dragon."

"If it's anything like Kai's, which I'm sure it will be solely based on how much the four of them look alike, his dragon will make your panties wet."

Allie giggles, blushes a deep red. "They are super hot." Her blush goes deeper. "And super—"

"Hung?" I ask with an arched brow.

"God yes." She nods emphatically. "And gifted. Holy shit, Posey, I now know for a fact that I've never orgasmed during sex before Andrej, thanks to his skills."

I smile then turn to continue staring out my French doors. "Their skills are endless. And they love so fucking big."

"What's wrong, hon? Why so glum?"

"Nothing."

Allie scoffs, "Yeah, ok. Dragon or not, I've known you a long time and right now I know something is bothering you."

"How much did Andrej tell you?" Because I can't exactly share what's bothering me if she doesn't know what kind of threat we're facing.

"He told me enough. Told me about this Cyril guy, about his family and how he's trying to overthrow Kai." She puts a hand on my shoulder and squeezes. "And he told me that we're going to war, that it's going to be difficult and scary but they won't let anything happen to us. I imagine as queen and mate you're pretty worried about Kai."

I sigh, turn back to look at her. "Terrified for him, to be honest. I have faith in him, in his ability to lead and fight, to protect himself and our people but I keep..." I shake my head. "Nevermind."

"What? You keep what, Posey?"

Might as well get it off my chest now. I've been keeping this from Kai so long that I'm probably going to have an aneurysm, so why not unload a bunch more crazy on my best friend.

"I keep having these dreams. I've had them since I met Kai, since the very first time I saw him and I can't shake the feeling that there is some truth to what I see."

"Which is what?"

"Did Andrej tell you about how female dragons are sensitives, what that means?"

Allie nods. "So you think you're sharing memories with Kai?"

"Memories that haven't been made yet. I was able to share Kai's memories before we mated, I didn't realize that's what I was doing but it was, and since we mated it happens all the time and it's the same ones over and over." I hug my knees a little harder. "I keep dreaming I'm seeing him off to war, not like it'll be when we go to battle but… I don't know, it just feels very retro and somehow I know he doesn't come back."

"Oh, Posey, I'm sure it's not what it seems." Allie scoots over and wraps her arms around me. "Maybe it's just a combination of sharing his memories and all the shit we're about to face, your worries and stress surrounding that."
