“Whatever you want. It will respond to you.”

“What?” Symphony frowned.

“Your nano-tech arm.You are now in full control of it.”

A crackling sound rang out. She saw her nano-tech arm changing from her usual, dark-chestnut skin tone into a sharp and brassy gold. It had no additional weight and yet, the color was unmistakable.

Adhi’s jaw dropped. “That is incredible.”

“Did you know this would happen?”

“No. I only felt this urge to activate the arm. I don’t know why or how.”

The rebels scrambled to their feet, lurching forward with their hands in front of them. One of the aliens bumped into a tree and grunted.

Adhi laughed. “Was the light that bright?”

“I don’t know.” She lifted her arm and flexed her fingers, marveling at what she’d become. If she’d had this change on earth, Symphony would have been horrified.Freak, she would have thought.I’ll always be a freak.

But Tiegan’s words gave her courage.

‘I don’t care what you become because you will always be mine’. He believed in her and loved her no matter what this crazy body looked like. If someone else could have that level of love for her, why couldn’t she have it for herself?

One corner of her lips hitched up. “This is cool.”

“What can it do?”

Footsteps rushed in the distance. The light had probably drawn the rebels who had been guarding Tiegan.

She smirked and nodded at Adhi. “How about we find out?”

“I’m right behind you.”

Symphony ran straight toward the rebels. When the first of them emerged from the bushes, she was there to welcome him. Hurling her arm back, she plowed it into his stomach. He went flying, skating through the leaves hanging on the low hanging branches before thudding to the ground several feet away. The thud that rang out when he landed nearly shook the ground.

“Whoa,” Adhi said, a smile touching her face.

“Did I just…”

“You did.”

“Oh my gosh.”

Two more rebels burst through the bushes, spine daggers in hand. They were on high alert. Fear skittered into their eyes when she wiggled her fingers at them. These two had probably seen their friend flying.

“You!” The taller one pointed at her.

“Hi. Looking for this?” Symphony reached out her hand.

He slashed his spine dagger against her nano-tech arm and the dangerous weapon snapped in two. He froze, glancing up in surprise. She smiled, grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into his friend. They stayed down, their grunts of pain echoing in the jungle.

More footsteps clattered. Symphony crouched, balancing her nano-tech arm in the dirt as she prepared. There had been five Plutonian warriors surrounding Tiegan in the clearing. Five. So far, she’d only taken on three.

That meant the other two who were guarding Tiegan were on their way now. Her heart throbbed painfully. Her neural implant was picking up Tiegan’s anger. It grew more intense when the footsteps drew closer.

She inhaled a deep breath, trying to keep Tiegan’s emotions from overcrowding her. With him in her head, it was hard to control the arm. He had a habit of overtaking everything. Was her love for him a weakness?

Symphony didn’t care. She needed to get Tiegan and she’d destroy anyone who got in the way of that. Nano-tech arm or not.
