She gasped. “A Healer.”
Thirty-Five
Tiegan
Tiegan wentin search of the Healer and found him in the unconscious female’s recovery cavern. He was checking her pulse, one blue hand pressed against her near-white wrist.
“Did you know?” Tiegan inquired quietly.
“Of?”
“Of my father.”
The Healer stepped away from the female and looked at him. “Daz has always been headstrong. I feared he would deny it.”
“It is impossible to deny when we share the same markings.” Tiegan slapped his chest.
The Healer glanced down.
“He refuses to tell me why he disappeared and left me behind. Do you know?”
“I cannot say.”
“What is he hiding?”
“The truth is something Daz must share himself.” The Healer sighed. “Perhaps he will never be ready. You must be prepared for such.”
“I do not need his explanations. All that matters is what was done. I will continue to live my life pretending my father does not exist.”
“Neh. Once you know of such things, it can never be un-known.”
Tiegan folded his arms over his chest. He and the Healer would not agree on this matter so they need not discuss it further. He jutted his chin at the female. “How does she fare?”
“Not well. She has still not woken.”
“Sim-pony reacted so well to the sacred damas. This one did not take to it.”
“It is almost as if she has been sequestering her Plutonian blood for so long that it is barely able to keep her alive.”
“Do you think it has anything to do with those?” Tiegan gestured to her legs. Rune had gone ahead and fitted the female with nano-tech legs in the hopes that it would strengthen her Plutonian blood.
Instead, the nano-bots did not mobilize. Without her brain activity telling them what to do, they were like wooden planks tied to her knees.
“The arrival of these females has given me much to think about,” the Healer said quietly. “The light that brought them, the Plutonian blood lying dormant inside them, thejideziillness… all of it paints different pictures. I cannot see one cohesive path.”
“We will know more when Clavas arrives with the fourth.”
“I am worried that we have not heard from him.”
“Clavas is the best strategist in our tribas. No matter what he faces, he will save the female.”
“Indeed.” The Healer turned to him, his knowing eyes taking in Tiegan’s body. “You should not be up.”
“Staying in one place made me restless.”
“Staying in one place is what will help you regain your strength.” He folded his arms over his chest. “Do you not remember how you incessantly instructed Sim-pony to rest? You must take your own advice.”
“Sim-pony is with Adhi.”
